"Great Location"
Bayview has a really nice location. It's a short taxi ride to Orchard Road and just a few steps away Bugis Street where shopping is absolutely great.! What you find in Orchard is in Bugis and cheaper.... If you're a techie freak, SIMLIM Towers is a few steps away. Talk about restaurants and great food, it's all over...
Rooms are basic, clean and loved the toilet. It's newly renovated that's why. The lobby may not be very attractive but the rooms are more important for me.
One thing i should say that needs improvement is the Buffet. The selections are not so impressive to my taste. Good thing I'm not much of a breakfast person.

"Pleasant stay"
Arrived in Singapore at 10:30 and took the airport shuttle to the hotel, it was a 20 minute drive...
Was offered early check-in upon arrival...the room was clean and well furnished, the air-conditioning was quite good. The shower pressure was quite impressive, the slight problem with the wash basin was rectified immediately upon notification.
Dhobi Ghaut MRT (train station) is a 10 minute walk and can be quite tedious in the sultry weather...All in all, a pleasant stay and a perfect base to explore the city state.

"Would book this again"
We booked the Bayview based on recommendations from this site and were not disappointed.
Our booking was made through [--], we paid £184 inc breakfast for a four night stay for two adults.
On arrival in Singapore we took a cab from the airport and arrived at the Bayview at around 7.30pm. We were allocated a room on the 9th floor but it had twin beds (we had requested a double on our booking form), we went straight back down to reception and the helpful guy that had checked us in changed our room immediately without any question.
We were allocated room 1213 which was clean, rather than spotless, and comfortable, rathen than luxurious. The room was exactly what we had expected and we were happy with what we got.
The Hotel in my opinion is in a great location - walking distance to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station and the start of Orchard Road in one direction and Raffles Hotel and Boat Quay in the other, all of which we actually walked to without any trouble.
Breakfast was quite decent (included in our room rate), plenty of choice and the staff kept the supplies topped up. The dining area was cool, clean and comfy.
If you are planning on using the laundry area at the hotel one thing to note is that it is actually situated at the poolside so you might find yourself ironing with an audience of swimmers - a bit off putting!! On our second trip to the ironing board it looked like rain (rooftop - rain - wet clothes - not a good idea!), we asked reception if they could contact housekeeping and have an iron sent up to the room, they did just that along with an ironing board so we ironed the full contents of our bags there and then whilst we had the opportunity.
If you are looking for a comfy, clean affordable hotel in a good location close to local amenities Bayview is an excellent choice.

"Great value hotel"
We really enjoyed our stay here. Probably one of the most conveniently located hotels we have ever visited. Short walk to most attractions including art museum, Raffles area, Bugis and even Orchard Road! Just outside the hotel, there is a 7-11 store plus a 24-hour coffee shop selling a wide range of cheap delicious food. The Kopi-O (black coffee) is only 80 cents! You can get a decent meal for under S$5.
Although the rooms are a bit small, they are comfortable with most ammenities such as a room safe and coffee/tea. The bathrooms are immaculately clean and quite modern. Hotel facilities include a small roof-top pool with good city views, and free internet - the reception will lend you a LAN cable or you can use the wifi in the lobby. This hotel will suit business travellers and also tourists who spend most of their time sightseeing, as they probably won't mind the compact rooms. Probably difficult to find better value for money in Singapore. Thoroughly recommended!

"Lived up to its good reviews"
Having stayed in August 06 with The Strand which is just across the road from the Bayview, we decided to upgrade a little and booked the Bayview in our recent December 06 trip. We are pleased that we did.
The hotel is nice and clean, and the rooms with the decor and fittings inside look pleasant and warm. We had two connecting rooms, one with a tub and the other with a shower. Although a little small in size, both bathrooms are very clean and of modern fittings. We have no complaint about the breakfast variety. As for the hotel location, it is ideal because it is next to a 7-11 and a 24 hour food court. It is in close vicinity of Bugis, Plaza Singapora, Cathay cinemas and Dhoby Ghout MTR station. Because of time constraint, we did not get to use the rood-top pool which is said to be nice.
When we left Singapore, we checked in to The Mutiara in Johore Bahru which is a 4* property. But my husband and I still prefer the 3* Bayview. The Mutiara is no doubt a larger hotel and has more facilities, but it is dated and the rooms conditions a little worn. Our children like The Mutiara over Bayview but we know exactly why - because we put them into the kids' suite which has double decker beds and the room comes with a play station and choice of game discs. Take these away, they would vote for the Bayview.
