Small, simple Room - great breakfast
I spend two nights in the Bellevue and was very disappointed about the room. It was very small and did not have anything special in it. Even for a 4 star I would barely be satisfied, but certainly not for the price I paid.
The breakfast buffet, though, was huge and very good. Don't eat the crepes, though, not sure what they are, but certainly not crepes (tasted okay, though).
Fazit: The stay was supposed to be something very special for me (first time 5 Star hotel) but I will take the Allegro anytime. Rooms there are nicer, larger and cost about 100$ less... |

"One of the top hotels in the world!"
This is one of the 3 best hotels I have ever stayed in.And I do travel a lot, usually staying in 5* hotels all around the world.
The hotel itself is really great-looking, both from inside and outside. It does have a relaxed feeling of true 5* Grand Hotel, the rooms are beautifull and spacious, all the necessary services are there and so on.All the personnel, starting from the doormen to the consierge and to the cleaning ladies where absolutely perfect, well trained and willing to help. The concierge has managed to get us a special offer for a dinner at the casino that I have tried to book on my own the day before with no success, a rose has been sent to my girlfriend on arrival, a huge dog bed has been brought by 2 ( !!! ) maids for our dog ( not to mention some dog snacks ), the bathroom floor is heated and the cooked-to-order breakfast was great too,on the first look it apears that there is a limited choice but just ask the waitress for what you like and them will cook it for you!The hotel is very will positioned in the center of town in the walking distance from the train station and just a short taxi ride from various embassys. What could you desire more? For any future visit to Bern this hotel will be my only choice!

"Nice Hotel, Dull City"
We stayed for one night in April whilst travelling through Switzerland. We found the Bellevue Palace to be centrally located, clean and the service was pretty good.
The views from our standard room were exceptional and we loved the heated floor in the bathroom. Breakfast was included but it was pretty average (don't order the Omelette - top tip!)
The shower pressure, direction and change in temperature made the morning routine tiresome (we stayed in a 3 star hotel in Geneva with amazing water pressure.) Bizarrely, the duvet that was supposed to fit a double bed was scarcely big enough for one. However, if you find yourself in Bern, the hotel itself is beautiful.

"The best hotel of our two week France and Switzerland trip"
A one night stay in Bern was added to our trip, and I am happy we did. The Bellevue Palace Hotel was the best hotel during our trip. It is a 5 star hotel with 5 star service. My wife and I were greeted at the front desk by the hotel manager. He offered suggestions for sightseeing. I had booked a deluxe room with a view of the river and Alps. We were upgraded to a suite with two balconies overlooking the river. The Old Town, which we found very interesting, is one block away. My evening meal in the hotel restaurant was the best meals I had on the entire trip. We both would love to return to this hotel.

"Top European hospitality"
Bern is the capitol of one of the world's most richest countries so it comes a bit as a surprise that the town only hosts a single really world class hotel. But world class the Bellevue Palace is. The building, lobby, rooms, hotel bar, restaurant and staff seem to stem from the days when customer service was the norm and not the exception in Europe.
As a returning guest, all I had to do was state my name at reception and was handed my key card. I didn't have to fill out any forms, show a passport or hand over a credit card. While I love Asian hotels and marvel about their generally excellent service, a really great Swiss hotel like the Bellevue just shows a certain class that you rarely find in the rest of the world.
I had booked a deluxe room directly on the hotel website and it was definitely more spacious than their standard room. The only slight disappointment was the lacking view. Apparently only junior suites and above profit from the amazing views which are visible from the front side of the hotel only.
The rooms interiour was very classic and pleasant and with its seperate sitting area could have easily passed as a junior suite. Everything you'd expect was offered, safe, mini bar, air con, robes, slippers etc. .
Many 5 star hotels have a bath and a shower. I personally always use the shower and have no need for a bathtub but if you do, you might want to ask for a room which is equipped with one. My shower was really fantastic, with a total of 6 shower heads, I showered 3 times during the 19 hours I occupied the room!
Breakfast is included in the rate, it's served in a lovely room. The buffet selection is of very good quality and there's enough choice. Additonally you can order lovely egg dishes made a la carte which aren't charged for separately.
When staying here, do have a drink at the hotel's lovely and historic bar, this is the real thing and over 100 years old! And when you come back after a lovely evening in town, you'll find your bed turned back and the entire room cleaned again, with all used towels replaced and trash cans emptied.
You'll find some of Switzerland's best chocolatiers in Bern, I highly recommend checking out the shops of Beeler, Eichenberger and Tschirren. Bern's best restaurant is called Zum Zähringer, an extremely unpretenious and cozy restaurant down by the river where 15 Gault Millau point cuisine is served in a very relaxed atmosphere. If you want to try some very authentich Swiss food in a very authentic setting try the Restaurant Della Casa.
If you need a room in Bern and want to stay in a luxury hotel, the Bellevue Palace is your only choice but a truly great one.

"we adore, adore, adore this hotel!"
We LOVED this hotel. The rooms were beautiful, the lobby beautiful, the service outstanding. We cancelled out trip to Lausanne to stay one more night in Bern at the Bellevue. We actually drove from Geneva, which was easy - the signs and roads were a dream, traffic so civilized. The location of this hotel is perfect, right in the center of everywhere you want to go to in Bern.

The Bellevue Palace mkaes it much easier for me to do my job when I am in Berne. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the facilities are first rate. It is good value for money, even tho expensive.
