"Good night at Bayside"
This is a good basic hotel, clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced for downtown. The room was a good size, very roomy bathroom, microwave, fridge, and real china mugs! Good free breakfast in adjoining restaurant. You can walk (about six blocks) to the downtown mall and Gaslight District restaurants. Very handy for the cruise terminal, could have walked, but we took the complimentary shuttle. It was perfect for the one night we spent before our cruise the next day.

"Great for the price"
I stayed at this hotel in mid-November, during the ASN conference.
The rooms are big and clean and it's really useful to have a fridge and microwave. As other reviewers have also pointed out, the Rite Aid just two blocks away is also very convenient.
The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe space.
The staff are helpful, not incredibly friendly but certainly polite and were able to accommodate problems surrounding my stolen credit card.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in a reasonably priced, clean hotel.

"Great Choice for Downtown Lodging..."
Spent last Saturday night at the Bayside, and we can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Now it's not the Omni, but it's a heckuva lot quieter, with much cheaper parking(and as a travel agent, I can get the Omni for almost the same price). As a previous reviewer mentioned, the halls do smell a bit funky... but the spacious room was among the cleanest of any I've stayed in. Beds are comfortable, small balcony... go for the bayview rooms, and ask for one on a higher floor and close to the street for the best views. Location is perfect for cruise passengers(one can walk to the ship two blocks away), and the Midway is right there too - the flightdeck was a great place to watch the sunset!
Now, we stayed over the weekend, so the construction next door could be a problem during the week... the very accommodating staff gave us a room far from the site, and there was little noise. Neighborhood very quiet and safe, with great restaurants only a block or two away.
Great hotel for a great price. We'll use this hotel whenever we visit downtown San Diego. Highly recommended!
