* The well-appointed Tower superior view rooms and spacious (450 sq. ft., 1 king or 2 dbl beds) one bedroom suites at the Best Western Chateau Granville hotel include A/C, microwave, refrigerator, work desk, and 27-inch color television. * The newly renovated Courtyard building is adjacent to our main Tower. This quaint heritage era building, is a three level walk-up without elevators. This may be unsuitable for persons with mobility difficulties.

"Best Kept secret in Downtown Vancouver"
I stayed at Best Western Chateau Granville in May 2005. It might be the best kept secret in Downtown Vancouver . If you are looking for a great hotel value, centrally located in a safe area, with clean and comfortable rooms, an a outstanding staff, The chateau granville is it. If you are looking for a Ritz carlton type hotel, the Best Western Chateau Granville it is not for you.
I will definitely stay there again.

"Great hotel in a funky part of town"
The hotel is great. We stayed in the high rise. The room was absolutely enormous. It was a suite with a seperate bedroom (two queens) and living room (couch and chair). It had all the amenities including a microwave and refrigerator. Although I didn't use it, it also has free high speed internet. The room is very clean. The shower is strong, soothing, and very clean. For the price ($102), it was a great deal.
However, if you are freaked out by porn, punks, and pizza shops, then this isn't the hotel for you. The stretch of Granville Street that the hotel is located on is very alternative. Lots of porn shops, peep shows, piercing and tattoo shops, goth-looking nightclubs. We could hear people yelling outside our window when the bars closed. One of the highlights is the hair salon without a front window or door with bikini clad hair stylists cutting hair. Of course, the stylists are tattooed and pierced in various places. Fun to see but you wouldn't want to take them home to momma. This stretch also has more pizza places per square mile than anyplace on the planet. I recommend going directly across to the street from the hotel to the corner store advertising 93 cent pizza slices. They are huge and yummy.
My sister and I walked this street and didn't encounter any problems. Of course, it's a big city with lots of funky looking people, 99.9% of which just want to be left alone. It also has very normal looking people. Looming over the hotel, there are many very expensive high rise condomineums. Don't be afraid to book this hotel but remember to pack your sense of adventure.

"very nice hotel"
Was a little wary of this hotel because of some of the reviews I had read. But was very surprised how nice it actually was. Had a king size room on the 14th floor, was very clean and comfortable. Noise was not a problem never heard anybody in the next room. Wasn't expecting a bellman but we had one take our bags up, that was nice for a change. Neighborhood is not great but we enjoyed walking around the night we were there. Lots of interesting people to see. We would definately stay there again.

Great Location
If you are going to Vancouver to party then this is the hotel stay. It is located on Granville St. which is where all the bars and clubs are located. Just know that parking is at the hotel is an additional cost that you will have to pay when you check out. The hotel room was great though. It was clean and comfortable. |

very comfortable and good value
Parts of Granville street are somewhat seedy, but it seems like the neighborhood is changing over. We never felt fearful and we were all women ages 12, 16, 44 and 84. The hotel is ideally located within walking distance of shops and short driving distance to many Vancouver attractions. We were very happy with the staff and the quality of the hotel. I would stay there again. |

We went for a bachelorette party and 8 of us stayed at this hotel. It was located in the perfect spot for shopping, dinner and dancing! I would definately go back. :) |
