"Hotel Impero - a great find for our needs"
Ideally located for transport links but still within easy walking distance of the attractions. Clean, airy room on the 4th floor with a great view of the Opera house. £60 a room per night with breakfast - not bad for a city centre!

"A good deal for the price"
We stayed at the Impero at the end of March. The Impero was in a good location if you need the train station. Even with our luggage the three block walk wasn't too bad. It was only 10 minutes walking from the Forum and Colleseum. Most of Rome was easy to get to even at this (east side) location. The atmosphere was nice and the upstairs sitting area was a good place to unwind. They did have internet at a reasonable price. 1 hour for 3 euros. Internet cafes can run 3 euros for 15 minutes. Our room was an adequate size. The first room was larger but had an odor so they moved us across the hall. They were very nice about it. The day shift speaks good English, in the evening, it gets a little harder to communicate but they try. Our wake-up call was always on time. Our bathroom was INSANELY small. Sounds like from other reviews, there are bigger ones, but beware. We traveled through Italy and it was the smallest. There were minor "quality issues" like water stains on the ceiling and a moldy shower door. The breakfast was a light continental, i.e., breads, meats, croissants, juice, and coffee. They also had cappucino! There is a rooftop which has a beautiful view! Ask for the 5th floor if you can, the rooms open to the terrace. Also, we noticed in Italy, the "Do not disturb" sign is not always respected. At each hotel (3) we found they still tidyed up. Kind of annoying if you left a mess and didn't want people in there. Nothing was ever missing, I think it is a cultural thing. I would recommend a stay at the Impero.

"Location Location Location"
We stayed at this hotel for 4 days as part of a 2 week vacation. The hotel is located a couple of blocks away from Termini station, which is REALLY convenient.. We arrived in Rome early on Sunday Morning after an overnight flight from New York. We were worried that we would not be able to get our room until early afternoon, but I think after the front desk clerk saw how exhausted we looked, he gave us our room with no issue - we were grateful and were able to catch a few hours of much needed sleep. This hotel is perfect for people who want to explore old Rome on foot - we were able to walk to the Colosseum, Forum, Spanish Steps, Borghese Gallery, Pantheon, Pizza Popolo, etc.... Also, it is close to a metro stop, so the day we decided to go shopping (and it was raining), as well as to visit the Vatican, we were able to take the subway very easily. We found the hotel to be very well maintained, clean and comfortable. Everything worked fine and the service was very good. As indicated with other comments, morning breakfast was sparse compared to other hotels we stayed at in Italy on this vacation....we were limited to cereals, pastry / buns and hard boiled eggs. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
