"nice hotel"
My friend and I had no problems during our stay at the hotel. It is close to one of the main train stations and a 15-20 minute walk to the city sights. The rooms were a comfortable size and the breakfast buffet was excellent. There really isn't much to see around the hotel so you definitely need to bring comfortable walking shoes or be prepared to ride the metro. There is a metro stop near the hotel at the train station. There was a wide variety of hot and cold foods on the buffet i.e. yogurt, fruit, sausage, eggs, potatoes, chicken, cheese. etc.

"Lovely big hotel"
Wasn’t sure what to expect from this hotel before we arrived: a very large hotel near the railway station in an East European country. However we shouldn’t have been concerned. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was big and clean with comfortable beds and in-room safe. The hotel is big and gets its share of groups which means that breakfast can be a bit of a scrum. However the breakfast room is certainly big enough to accommodate everybody and the breakfast buffet is absolutely massive, with everything you would expect: cereals, croissants, bread, fruit, eggs, meats, coffee, tea etc but also full blown meals such as chilli con carne.
We arrived by train and the hotel is just a few minutes from the station and not too far from the centre of Pest. We walked to the centre but the metro is not far away.
The only down side was that the hotel is on a busy road and was noisy at all times of day and night even though we were 7 floors up. Would definitely stay here again if we ever visit Budapest in the future.

"Just got back"
Have just got back from spending four nights at the Grand Hungarian and have really enjoyed it. The Hotel is located near to the Eastern railway station which provides excellent public transport to anywhere in the city. The rooms were warm and clean with a maid service every day. Breakfast was included in the package and was varied and of a high standard. here is traffic noise if you are located at the front of the hotel, but I am sure they would move you to a quiter one if requested |

"Had a great timr"
We had a great time at this hotel. The facilities are good and the staff were very helpful when the airline lost our bags. The place is clean and tidy as you would expect from a 4* hotel. Yes the place does look a bit dated which i thought added to that east european charm. You will be slightly out of the tourist areas but the bus stops right outside and is about four stops from the trams and metro. Budapests public transport is excellent and very frequent as well as cheap, so getting out and about is not a problem at all. Round the corner is the rosenstein tibor resteraunt on mosonyi utca, teh food here is superb as is that at Karpathia off ferenc tere. Overall i would reccommend budpest and this hotel to anyone.

"Great value"
We stayed at the Grand Hungaria for two nights from 28/2/2005 and had a fab time. We found the staff plesant We enjoyed a great night at Alcatraz pub/restaurant. Live music great food & champagne cocktails all for less than forty quid between two. Public transport was great and the airport minibus easy to use(3600forints return jorney). This was my first non package trip abroad and I would definetly recommend it. The hotel masseuse was good too.

"A grand time in the Grand Hotel Hungaria"
We had mixed feelings about staying here because of the poor reviews, but we struggled finding accommodation in Budapest at New Year, so went ahead and booked it anyway. It was a pleasant surprise to find courteous staff, swift check-in and a perfectly nice, clean, comfortable room with fridge and tv. The price was extremely reasonable, too. We paid $352 US for 3 of us for 4 nights. The breakfasts were excellent, with a huge choice of hot and cold dishes.
As for location, the Keleti Station was just across the road, providing cheap public transport. The underground is easy to use. There were lots of affordable bars and eating places within walking distance of the hotel, so we didn't need to venture far in the evenings. The language didn't seem to be a problem anywhere. Everyone was very patient and nice.
