"Hitting the spot. This family run hotel started life many years ago as a truck stop. The patron was a truck driver and his wife worried constantly that he was not getting proper food when he was away from home, along with all the other poor truckers. He got so fed up with this constant chatter that he told her to open the doors to the farm as a truck stop if it made her happy. By the time he got back from an extended trip the word had spread and the rest was/is history. The hotel is still in the same family and mama still makes sure that everything is taken care of especially the kitchen and menues. Al Camin (The Fireplace) is noted as one of the finest restaurants in the Veneto and one of her sons runs it admirably. A second son runs the desk and the daughter runs the office and marketing. There is a third son but apart from enjoying himself we haven@t quite figured out what he does other than float about helping here and there. Mama is a delight and so is the barman Dario who always but always wears a tuxedo on duty. When you see him greet him warmly and tell him he looks @fantastico@.(He speaks perfect English having worked in London for many years). This hotel is perfect for many reasons and not the least if you want to visit Marostica for the bi-annual Chaess Game then this is the perfect base. All the bedrooms are clean, if a little dated/quirky and the staff are all very helpful and charming. It is not a stuffy hotel and the staff are not obsequious. They are family. We have been staying there at least twice a year for the past 12 years and after having tried every other hotel in the district we know it is the place to be.John Hyde.Brighton.England.
