Disappointed
We arrived with our two children. Thought it was a best western as advertised on website. First receptionist was very nice and attending to our requirements with having children. We arrived in our room which we found tired looking. Beds were uncomfortable with springs sticking out. Shower was crap and had a small window in bathroom which would not close. It looked out to a plank of wood and brick wall with a ladder going up. very dodgy. We went out for the day and returned later in the evening to find housekeeping (although very friendly) had left our hotel door open all day. We did have our stuff in the safe (which you have to pay one euro each time you use it) but it was the principal. The other reception staff were not that friendly and breakfast staff had no personality. We went for breakfast and sat down and they did not even set up a table. We had to go round collecting our cultery cups etc from work stations, whilst they were setting up tables around us that were unoccupied. On departure we booked a taxi with the hotel. we were aware that it was around 25 euros for the airport trip. It was around 3am. the taxi driver took us to the airport and i realised there was no meter and no license. She charged us 35 euros. Felt really ripped off. Do not normally complain but this experience left us really disappointed. We knew this was a budget hotel but this was not a good experience. We had just stayed at the travelodge in the suburbs for 20 euros a night and it was fantastic. |

"Perfect location and value"
I recently went to madrid and spent two days in this hotel. It has a perfect location, is clean, the rooms are comfortable, the service is good and I find a bargain price for booking with anticipation. Is a perfect hotel for those budget tourist that does not want to loose comfort. Perfect balance between price and quality. I would recomend this hotel.

"Great hotel"
We were very impressed by our room. Large, well appointed, good A/C with an excellent price (booked directly with hotel via internet. Much cheaper than using Best Western). Hotel is in great location, midway between the royal palace and the Prado, a few blocks from Plaza Major and a few blocks from Puerta del Sol. There are scads of tapas bars, cafes, restaurants in the imediate surrounding neighborhood, even a Starbucks less than 1/2 mile away. There is a Metro station 1/2 block away. Serves excellent breakfast. We usually avoid hotel breakfasts but this was so good for the money we took it. Staff had good English language skills and were cordial. We were sorry to leave.
