"Great Place" This is just far enough out from the centre to be fairly quiet, but only a short taxi ride in if you need to. The staff are very helpful, the pool and jacuzzi are beautiful set in lovely gardens. We stayed in the new refurbished rooms that were spotless. My only negative is that the bar is a bit sleezy at times, but this was mainly down to a few roudy groups. The bar is far enough away from the inside of the hotel for this to be an issue though. Top tip: Before getting into a taxi, INSIST that they turn the meter on, don't accept their guestimates, they're always over the price.

"Great Stay" I stayed at the Best Western Irazu in October for just one night, after being stranded when Hurricane Wilma went through Florida. They were very accommodating and the hotel was very nice. It is situated outside the city, but pretty close to the airport and enormous shopping mall (multiplex I believe it's called).

"Great Hotel" We stayed at this hotel the night before we left Costa Rica. It is a perfect location for a early morning departure or late arrival since it is so close to the airport. They also have a Shuttle Bus that takes you to and from the airport. We stayed in a very nice room, that looked to be recently renovated. All the comforts of an "North American" hotel. There is a great happy hour at the bar in the evenings, some drinks are even free. If I recall I think it was from 4-6pm but double check. Also we got a voucher for a free breakfast at the Denny's located at the hotel. I would certainly stay at this hotel the next time I'm in Costa Rica. Plus they also have a car rental desk at the hotel and business center with internet, pool & casino.
