"Loved the Mediterraneo"
This hotel has a great location, large clean rooms, good quality linens and interesting decor. The art deco design is very Roman and well preserved. The staff at the front desk always spoke excellent English and were willing to indulge my poor Italian. They were very helpful and generous with their time and advice. I would stay here again.

"Great location, service!"
We just spent 2 nights at the Mediterraneo in Rome. This was a last minute trip, as we had 24 hours to research a place to stay. We had narrowed down the choices and in the end chose the Mediterraneo. We arrived early and was told our room was not yet ready...no problem, they put our bags in a sealed room by the conceirge desk. There was no language problems, everyone was helpful. The lobby was very nicely done, yes, you could tell the building was older, but hello! this is Rome..everything is old here. We arrived back late in the afternoon after siteseeing and went to our room. They brought up our bags right away after we checked in. Note...they give you a key, not a plastic card. The room was spacious, entry area with closet, large bathroom. (a must with 2 teenager girls along) We had reserved a double twin room with a cot added. I do agree with the firmness of the pillows I have read about, they were a bit hard. Free breakfast buffet included in this stay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. It was as the hotel website stated. We found a great little pizzeria just down the street (right out of the hotel) that we ate at each night.

"Clean, Convenient, and what a view"
We spent a week in Rome at the Bettoja Hotel Mediterraneo and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a moderate size hotel (150 or so rooms) located 1 block from the Teremini metro station, the main bus station and the main rail station in Rome. The area wasn't elegant, but we found it completely safe and very convenient for getting around Rome. Walk down the Via Cavour and you are at the Roman forum in about 15 minutes. The area has restaurants, pizzarias, a bakery, a small market and the national roman museum is around the corner. Our room (#816) was extremely clean, large, and had the only balcony in the hotel. Maid service was great. The people at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. When we needed a wake-up call, it was on time. The hotel provided a large breakfast room with a good selection of items. Coffee, juice, salami, ham, eggs, cornflakes, toast, yogurt, etc. were available each day with prompt and friendly service from a large staff. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. I would rank it as a 3 star hotel.

"Good Hotel near to most locations of interest"
My wife and I have just returned from spending 5 days at this hotel. It's location is excellent. Near to the main train station for arrivals and departures from the airport (Buy a return ticket at the airport to save time). When you arrive on the Airport Express at Termini Station follow the exit signs to thje Metro and then choose the Cavour exit from there. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of all attractions (20 - 30 minutes) apart from the Vatican which is a simple metro train ride away. Queques to get into the Vatican were about one hour long. Queques to go up the dome about 1 hour long (Unless you really want to go up, don't bother, concentrate on the rest. Queques for the tombs of the Popes about 5 minutes) The hotel has a restaurant which looked good although we never ate there because if you come out of the hotel and turn right, on the next side street on the right there are some good and reasonable priced restaurants. One with good home made food is the trattatori straight across when you turn onto the side street. Family run. Good food, cheap and friendly. The hotel is quiet and clean with good sized rooms, ours looked as thought it had just been refurbished. The area near to Termini station (left out of the hotel) is not great at night but turning right out of the hotel takes you down Via Cavour and the area seemed safe with shops nearby.
