Could do better
My gripes: I staggered up the steps with my luggage and had to ask the four bell captains to let me through so I could reach reception. Not one offered to help me. There's nowhere to sit in the reception area which makes it awkard when you're meeting others. The pool is very small and staff at pool area were unhelpful/unfriendly. There is a "building site" next to the pool area where hotel renovation is still underway. A carrier bag of MacDonalds wrappers and leftovers stayed by the stairwell for two days on the 4th floor. Room was badly lit and looked out on a blank wall. 15 TV channels only. Concierge was usually missing. Praise: not a bad location although close to the railway station. It is a lovely building that has been renovated tastefully. The bar looks sophisticated and inviting. My room had character and was well furnished. Reception staff were very helpful. OK but not a "luxury" experience.

"Exedra : + & -"
The Exedra Hotel, Rome. A beautiful hotel. Great room – high ceiling and I mean high, very spacious, very clean, well appointed, big bathroom, safe, etc. The negatives; for a hotel of this standard the shower in the marble bathroom had a rather flimsy curtain and it was not properly fitted, hence the water sprayed into the bathroom. The bathroom was very large but it has to be one of the worst laid out bathrooms I have ever seen in a hotel of this standard. It is expensive to stay here, I knew that and I wanted to stay in a 5 star hotel in Rome. However the cost of breakfast was a jaw dropping €30, for that money I would expect a pretty good breakfast not just coffee, juice and croissant. We crossed the square to a small snack place with plenty of seating and enjoyed great breakfasts for €15 for two! One of the people who worked at the concierge desk, Nico, was great – very helpful in every way. The reception staff were, let’s say, ok!! Housekeeping service in the room was fair – I had to go out one day to get extra shampoo from the maids cart, she had been and had not replaced the empty bottles in the bathroom. The bathrobes disappeared on day 2 of our 5 day visit??? Overall I enjoyed staying in this hotel and would return; it is in a good location and has great connections - Metro station outside door and Termini around the corner as well as the starting point for the open top tour busses. It also has a good terrace out front where they serve great cocktails.

"unstuffy luxury"
I stayed at the Exedra in Feburary for 4 nights for my boyfriend's birthday. I researched a lot of hotels before picking this one, and was very happy with my choice. The hotel is luxurious, but not in a stuffy way, and the staff were all friendly and approachable. The location is not particularly central to the sights, but it was within walking distance to everything (other than the Vatican, which was a bit too far for us and we hopped on a bus). The lobby was lovely, and there were 2 bar areas on the ground floor - unfortunately the bar prices appeared to put everyone off drinking there, as we popped in each night for a drink on our return from dinner, and were the only customers each time. The room was a standard double, and we felt large for a European city centre hotel. An absolutely huge bed, very high ceilings and luxurious contemporary furnishings. The bathroom was also a good size, with 2 sinks which always scores highly with me! Breakfast was included in our rate, but there did appear to be some confusion with the staff as to what was included. There is a breakfast buffet set up, with a great selection of cold items and not so great selection of hot items. We ordered omelettes 2 mornings, and had to pay an additional 22E one morning, but nothing the next, even when I queried it. coffee was good and refreshed regularly. We had 2 restaurant reccommendations from the front desk, one really great (Target, just around the corner) and one not so good (can't remember the name) Overall, I felt the hotel offered the level of luxury and service I was expecting.

"Amazing honeymoon at the Exedra"
We stayed here for three nights for our honeymoon from Nov. 22-24th. It was quite simply one of the most beautiful and pleasant hotels anywhere in the world. The conceirge service, spearheaded by Salvatore, is excellent, and the dining options including the restaurant Tazio are outstanding. Our room was spacious beyond belief and absolutely breathtaking. The hotel left a bottle of champagne with a congratulatory note on our honeymoon. The hotel is centrally located, and cannot be recommended enough by myself and my wife. 10 stars if possible. "Great Hotel!"
We stayed for 9 days at the Exedra in October, 2004. It was a great hotel--we would definitely stay there again and have recommended it to other people. The room and bathroom were very clean and had been recently redecorated. The room was very elegant. The room had a juliette-style balcony with views of the piazza. Housekeeping was very thorough. The lobby was very grand, and the 2 restaurants and lobby bar were pretty good. The covered arcade in front of the hotel has outdoor seating that is nice to use after dinner. A subway stop was located outside of the hotel, which was great because the sights in Rome are rather far flung--we used the subway system quite a bit. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel--there are places nearby for a light breakfast--located in the covered arcades near the train station. The concierge was helpful in getting us reservations at restaurants.

"Unbelievable Experience!"
As this was our first visit to Rome and we wanted to see the new year in in style, after lengthy research, we splashed out and booked a Deluxe Room at the Exedra Hotel. We arrived at the hotel late in the evening to be told that they had no Deluxe Rooms left and that they were upgrading us to the Presidential Suite...wow whee!! This was out of this world. An apartment style suite over 2 floors, we were engulfed in pure luxury with 3 balconies, 3 bathrooms including huge jacuzzi tub, queen size bed, open plan living area which even included an 8 seat dining table and fully stocked bar. Our whole experience at the hotel including the service was fantastic, we couldn't fault it. We will definately be visiting again, although somehow I doubt we'll be as lucky with any future upgrades. Highly recommended!!
