"Brilliant"
First of all this place should charge much more than it does, it is probably the best value for money accommodation we have ever stayed in. We landed at Cairns airport just after six in the morning, after clearing customs etc we expected a long wait for our courtesy pick-up as the hotel mini bus didn’t start until seven at the earliest. However, we used the free phone in the airport lounge and were picked up straight away. When we reached the hotel we were offered breakfast and use of the hotel’s facilities, which was very nice considering we weren’t supposed to check in until 2pm. We were given a room at about 10am, four hours earlier than they needed to, again good PR on behalf of the hotel The accommodation is advertised as a boutique hotel, which in this instance is like a medium sized open aspect building focused around a central swimming pool, and not like the claustrophobic feel some of the larger, traditional hotels offer. When we first booked this via the Internet I had some reservations whether it would turn out to be a sort of noisy back-packers hostel (not that there’s anything wrong with them). No, it is more of an up-market but laid-back resort with a guest mix of all ages. Our room was on the third floor (the top floor) had a cool, light, airy feel to it. There was a double bed, bedroom furniture and a large built in wardrobe. Also supplied were a TV (with sky movies), air-con, microwave oven, security safe, small fridge, phone and electric kettle complete with tea/coffee/milk sachets. The en-suit bathroom had a large cubicle shower but no bath, but this is what we would have preferred anyway. The room was cleaned daily and supplied with clean towels and replenished with tea/coffee. The breakfast area, which also doubles up as the bistro at night, is next to the swimming pool and has plenty of seating. The breakfast, which is inclusive of the cost, is continental style with hot drinks, fruit juices, cereals, toast and fruit. It is buffet style and guests can take as much or as little as they want, as often as they want. The breakfast does finish at 8.30am but we found this okay, as we wanted to get out early in order to make the most of the attractions within the area. The reception area has plenty of information and leaflets about the attractions on offer throughout the region, there is also a computer with Internet access that can be used for a charge. In addition, guests can use the coin-operated laundry, the sun lounges and swimming pool and the nightly bistro. We used the bistro on three nights, the food was very good any prices were comparable to town prices, The location is excellent, situated on the main highway and very convenient for buses, but we found this road to be fairly quiet really and any traffic or noise certainly isn’t a problem. It is about a five minute walk to the sea-front and about a ten/fifteen minute walk to the town centre where most of the ‘action’ is. We stayed at the Queen’s Court for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, all the staff was very friendly and helpful, the place was spotless, and for us we couldn’t find any faults at all. We would definitely recommend this place either as a base from which to explore what Cairns has to offer, or as somewhere to relax and take it easy. Given the opportunity, would have no hesitation in staying there again.

"Pleasant stay"
Stayed here for three nights in July, 2004. The hotel is located on Sheridan street which is a busy road into Cairns, but was unaffected by traffic noise. Approx a 15 minute walk to the marina and main street from the hotel. My room was on the third floor opposite the steps leading upto the other rooms. Could often here others coming up the stairs at night which was a little disturbing. Room itself was fairly spacious with ensuite facilities, air con, TV and coffee etc. Fine and no complaints. Breakfast was included in the price and was pleasant, never had any problems getting a table. Receptionist was very helpful in organising my transfer to the airport. Overall a pleasant stay and would consider using the hotel again.

"Excellent staff"
Although check in was not until later we were allowed in at 6am, given free breakfast and allowed to leave our bags. Our room was then ready at 11am. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful staff we have encountered on the entire of our 3 month trip. The rooms and the shared bathrooms were clean but basic. Breakfast ends early but there are so many trips and things to do in and around Cairns that this isn't a problem. The location is great for the bus routes, and is a lovely walk along the front to the center. I would stay at Queens Court again.
