"Fab views, Central Location but definitely shabby Chic"
After having stayed here last December, my partner and I thought we'l treat ourselves. As other reviewers said The best view in Sitges. We asked and got the room we stayed in December. Unfortunately we presumed it would have been renovated as all the floors underneath had been but no. Very basic for a 4 star. Ask for 1-422 to 1-426 for best views and renovated rooms. We did get to inspect one of the renovated suites and it was fab (if you can afford it). The staff were ok if a bit standoffish. They refused to move us to a renovated room after asking every day for a week. The pool area is fine (gets the sun all day). It is an expensive hotel especially if you charge everything to the room like we did!! I would go back but only for a renovated room. Love Sitges been here 12 times now over the years. If feels like coming home although we feel too old to appreciate the night life like we used to.

"Amazing experience"
I happened to discover Calipolis on my last daytrip to Sitges when I visited their outdoor bar. This is probably the best hotel I have seen in Sitges. Beautiful simple rooms with GORGEOUS views ! I loved every moment of my stay here. The bathrooms are great and large! I would stay here again but ....I do agree about the service at the reception and booking. I think they are trained to say ' NO' like a capital one ad. We asked for a higher floor- NO , internet - NO you have to come down to us to get the telefonica card. The restaurant is more NOT open. So the best way to deal with it is not pick up the phone. The location and view make up for the service. By the way dont forget to checkout 'PICNIC' and PIZZA EXPRESS just in front of Calipolis for great service and food.

"good quality hotel"
we read loads of reviews about this hotel before our stay, with mixed reports we were unsure of what to expect. Thankfully it turned out well. We stayed in a junior suite on the second floor for 7 days. The room was very clean and well presented, maid service was every day, with the bedding and towels being changed. staff spoke quite good english on reception and were helpful and friendly on check in and checkout. We used room service a few times to oder coffee etc...and the service provided was quick. Our room was on the side of the hotel offering views of the med just over the road from the gay beach. Traffic is light on the road below but the throng of nightlife can still be heard until the small hours of the mornings. If you are taking advantage of the nightlife in sitges this shouldn't be a problem for you, plus once the patio doors are closed the noise is locked out. The hotel is idealy located for the main bars and restaurants both gay and straight. We hired a car for the duration of our stay and when we stayed the hotel did not have its own car park due to the fact its being constructed, and parking was a problem at the weekend. We had to park a couple of streets away during the week and on the outside of town on the weekend. Construction of the underground car park looks nearing completion and as we didn't spend any time at the hotel during the day we are not sure about the noise this creates. We did however contact the hotel before our stay and they told us all the heavy work was over. The main street to the beach is closed due to the construction and the hotel is well signposted once you hit the town centre so you dont get lost i.e. if your using maps or sat nav you may get a little confused as this is the road you would normally take to get to the hotel. We would stay at the hotel again and would recommend.

"Excellent Experience"
After reading the other reviews on this hotel I was more than a little concerned. I am thrilled to say I experienced none of the problems listed by some of the other reviewers. Checking in for me was easy and painless. The staff at the reception and throughout the hotel spoke English very well and were quite patient with my attempts at Spanish. Entering my hotel room I was stunned to see how large my suite was--ask for Suite 932. I seriously thought about asking for a smaller room. It could have easily accomodated 4 people. While the furnishings were a little 'retro' everything was clean and in good shape. Easily the best part of the suite was the terrace. It was absolutely HUGE with the most amazing views. The balcony basically wrapped around 3 sides of the hotel giving me excellent views of the mountains, the town, the harbor and the sea. It was breathtaking. I spent hours marveling at the amazing scenery. The terrace was so large I could have easily had a cocktail party for 30-50 people. The only issues I had were taken care of very quickly and without any hesitation or arguement. The first was a small dead bird on the balcony which was dealt with within 15 minutes of my notifying the front desk. The second was a leaky air condition which was repaired by the time I got back from the beach. The location of the hotel couldnt have been better. Directly across the street from the gay beach and 5 minutes walking distance from the center of town. The hotel guest were a mix of families, business travelers and gays. Everyone seemed to co-exist very easily and without issue, which seems to be the case with the whole town. The pool area, while small, was very clean and comfortable with bar service that was very welcoming. I would eagerly recommend anyone to stay at Hotel Calipolis. And highly suggest they ask for room 932. On my next trip to Sitges I will certainly stay here again.
