"Excellent - as long as you explore"
My friend and I have just come back from a trip to Malta and had a fab time. We booked this hotel as it was cheap and in a good location. On arrival, and throughout our stay, the receptionists were very helpful and I recommend using them for help with phone calls, car hire and any problems or queries re checkout etc. Our room was a good size for two people sharing - and we had the best balcony in the hotel (ask for room 526!). We didn't really use the pool, other than for a dip to cool off after a day of sightseeing, but the sun terrace is great for an early evening jacuzzi and a couple of hours of sunbathing (if you're used to no shade). We were only on B&B which suited us fine. The breakfasts were ok and enough to set you up for the day. I would not have like to have stayed all inclusive - but then I wouldn't want to do that anywhere. Canifor Hotel is in a great location. It's far away enough from the centre of Buggiba so that you don't hear all the awful evening entertainers, but then it's close enough to walk into town and there are some fantastic bars and retaurants round the corner that are both cheap yet serve great Maltese food (plus other options for the less adventurous). The bus terminal is about a minute walk away and therefore you can get anywhere. We hired a car which was fun and were always able to park it outside of the hotel. On our last day we had a really late flight - so the hotel stored our luggage and then let us use the pool etc for the rest of the day. They also let us use a room for a shower and freshen up. If you want all inclusive and just to lie by the pool for the whole holiday then the Canifor is probably not for you. However, if you want a nice place to stay (which is both friendly, clean and cheap) and want to be in a good location to see both local sites and sites further afield then it's great. I'll certainly be returning to Malta and if the Canifor is the cheapest place again, then I would definately return.

my wife and i stayed at the canifor in march 2002. we realy enjoyed our fortnight . a great number of those staying had been at the canifor before some as many as 14 times [which speaks for itself] the hotel is central for bus travellers which everyone should try it is a fun and inexpensive way of touring this beautiful island and while at that hop a ferry to gozo another must. the staff at this hotel we found very attentive to the needs of the guests.the hotel was very clean the food very good [and plenty of it] we where glad to have chosen the h/b we did however gain the extra pounds. all in all we found this to be a great place to stay on this beautiful island that much so we are now returning on the 23rd -5-2006. and we hope it will be as good as our first stay after reading some of your reviews i am worried but i will let you know how this stay compares. doreen and russ scott
