Rest, romance and renew
I love Isla Mujeras becuase it has yet to be "discovered" by the tourist tide, yet it is a convenient ferry ride from the hustle and hustle of Cancun. Casa Ixchel is located on the beach and most of the rooms seem to take advantage of this with decks, palapas, sunbeds and the pool located right on the ocean. Room was spacious and romantic with lots of little art pieces and candles around the bed. We walked through the little town next to the hotel and met local people working in a small tortilleria, a shop selling fresh fruit juices and a little toy store. People were great, as were the other guests at the hotelito. I have stayed in many of the Hawaiian, Caribbean, Greek and Aeolian islands. Isla Mujeras is special- reminds me of the way Vieques used to be, only the food is better! We met Henry, the manager of the restaurant that recently opened and had a delicious meal. Definitely recommend.
