"good choice"
Just back from 3 nights at the Catalonia Moratin & would happily recommend it to others.
We paid 102 per night with breakfast included. The room was big, it was simpy decorated, and everything in it seemed new and clean. The bathroom was spotless. The only thing missing was an iron.
The best thing though is the location - All the main sights and museums are accessible on foot during the day. Also, the hotel is right beside the Plaza Santa Ana / Huertas area, which is one of the best places to be for food and drink.

"great location"
Stayed there for 3 nights in late Fed 2007. Our room is on the 3rd floor facing the main street.
Overall the experience is good. The room is nice and clean. It is quiet although it is facing the street. Nice size of bathroom but the shower temp was not stable. wireless Internet access is provided by a third-party telecom company (swissnet?) and you pay by creditcard online to get access. I think it is like 10 EUR for one-hr. not cheap. It is similar to many other hotels we stayed in Spain.
Location is great. 5 min walk to the subway (blue line) and can easily walk to many tourist attractions. Many places to eat around the area. The lobby is well designed and you can see the renovated stairway in the older part of the building
I got sick during my stay and needed to go to the ER. Staff was not too helpful. Asked them for help to call cab or locate the hospital on the map but they were not very responsive. Could be just language barrier (we speak good english but very minimum spanish) or just people in Madrid are cold.

"Excellent location, clean and safe"
This was our first visit ( 57 year old and 63 year old). Our son found the hotel as a special deal and we stayed 4 nights. It is really easy to get to using the metro from the airport. We arrived very late on Sat. in May. but found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. At 11.30 pm we were at the Plaza Santa Anna having tappas and Sangria- recommended by the hotel.
Brekfast the next morning was a help yourself buffet and the platters were never empty. You have a choice from eggs, sasuages, bacon, ham, cheese , pasteries and delicious cakes, fruit, cereals etc. Eat as much or as little as you want to set you up for the day.
We walked to all the attractions and took the Madrid tourist bus on the last day to get an overall view of the city - recommended by the hotel staff.
We rate the hotel more as a three star but it is well worth the money because of it's very convenient location.
We would certainly use it again. Our room was small, but clean and fresh. We would recommend the use of the hotel safe! It's well worth the 3 euros a day for peace of mind.

"Good central hotel"
Stayed here for three nights, good central location close to Santa Anna Square, famous for Tapas. Good modern clean rooms.
