"A terrific experience"
6 of us stayed there in October for 4 nights. Rooms were fine - especially room 401 and the ones in the renovated section of the hotel. Others are a bit small and not renovated. Breakfast was good, service excellent and the location was walking distance to all the major sights. Loved that they have internet available to guests at no charge!

"Don't hesitate to book there"
We were happily surprised by this hotel. The location is really easy for reaching what you will have to visit. We were two women and not afraid to walk at night in the neighbourhood. The room was clean and big. We were in the new part of the hotel, we had friends in the old one, and their room was smaller. We had breakfast there and it was OK. The staff is very very kind, (and so are the people in istanbul, don' t be afraid if you are lost or have any kind of question, they are always ready to help you). We really had a great time there and will recommend it to everyone going to Istanbul

"Fantastic friendly hotel, in an ideal location."
We are just coming to the end of our short stay at the Celal Sultan, and decided to use their "free internet" access to post a review.
This is one of the nicest small hotels we've stayed at, and we would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
Some of the rooms may be on the small side, but are both clean and comfortable.
It's very much a home from home!

"As good as it looks"
Having looked at this hotel on lots of websites and seeing the good reviews on Tripadvisor we were quite hopeful. From our arrival to our departure, all the staff were extremely professional yet friendly and helpful. The standard room we had was of a decent size (esp. for Istanbul where rooms can often be tiny!). Stylish decor and good quality furniture and bedlinen made it pleasantly comfortable, The room also had an excellent heating system which was useful after a freezing evening spent watching Galatasary playing a home game (quite an experience). Other reviews have mentioned the breakfast and we must agree with their favourable comments. We had plenty to choose from including fresh comb honey, cheeses etc. All served in a lovely stylish dining room.
This hotel is in a great location, literally round the corner from the main Sultanahmet sights such as the Blue Mosque and the Basilica Mosque, but is in a quiet side street so not much traffic noise.
We will definitely return!

CELAL SULTAN HOTEL
We stayed at the Celal in August 2005 while it was still being renovated. We were moved there from another hotlel which we had found unacceptable. What a pleasure! Our rooms were small, but sufficient for touring travelers. The hotel was quiet; the rooms afforded spectacular nighttime views; the staff was extraordinarily friendly (while not being intrusive) and helpful. The dining was tasty and cozy. One drawback--no one knew much about train travel. While I would rate it "good" against others, for the price and proximity to top points of interest I would rate it "excellent." |

"Celal Sultan - perfect central hotel"
If you need a 3 star style hotel near the Blue Mosque & Haghia Sofia, The Celal Sultan Hotel is perfect. Reasonabe rates, good size rooms, many with good view of Haghia Sofia. Roof terrace has fine views of these sites and also Topkapi Palace.
Th staff are absolutely the most friendly we have ever met in any hotel anywhere.
Breakfast is very good.
The new modern tram that connect the area with the ferries and the grand bazaar is 150m away.
Tip - eat in one of many back street cafes rather than more costly main street restaurants.

"Delightful Istanbul Hotel!"
We found the Celal Sultan to be well located, friendly, and comfortable. The hotel is just a short walk from Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi, the Hippodrome and other attractions. The terraces on the 5th floor have spectacular views of Hagia Sofia to Topkapi on one side and the Bosphorus and cruiseport on the other. The rooms were farily basic, but comfortable. We had a view of Hagia Sofia from our window. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet (included) was quite varied and filling. As an added bonus, the hotel gave us free transportation to the airport because we stayed 4 nights.
