"Loved the privacy and serenity"
We stayed here for five nights and while I probably would not return to Phuket again, I would be happy to stay here again if we did. The cabin was beautiful and very private with lovely ocean views. We could not really see any other cabins and I don't think they could see us, even when we were on the balcony. I prefer this cabin-style of accommodation over a big hotel and we were not disappointed. The staff were all friendly and very helpful - the welcome drink on arrival certainly relaxed us as it was about midnight when we arrived. The jungle setting was lovely too, and very cool in the heat. After the rush of Patong it was great to come back here and relax, and we event spent a whole day at the resort without going anywhere! It was a bit annoying that you couldn't really walk to either Patong or Karon (well, we did manage the walk to Karon but were so hot when we arrived we felt like going straight back to the resort!) but had to get tuk-tuks or taxis which were not cheap by Australian prices. We did use the shuttle provided by the hotel which was good, they could have more of these. The whole touristy areas of Phuket were not cheap, and we found the tuktuk drivers in particular not willing to negotiate too far down. Having been to other areas of Thailand a few years ago, I was expecting more of a Thai experience but we got more of a generic tourist experience at Phuket. Most of the shopkeepers were from Nepal and apart from the cooking class at Pum's (which was good) we didn't feel we were really getting a cultural experience. We did a 'Hong by Starlight' canoe tour with John Gray's company which was expensive but wonderful with delicious food, and I would recommend this trip. Otherwise, we spent most of the time at Kata Beach which was beautiful - we liked it much better than Karon Beach.

"Private Jungle Huts!"
We stayed at this Hotel for 10 nights. It is a lovley Hotel but people with walking difficulties would really struggle here. There are literally hundreds of stairs you have to ascend/descend depending on where your bungalow is situated. There is a golf cart that you can call to use, this will pick you up from your room and drop you at Reception. We only used it twice (for the lugguage runs) so we used to climb about 150 steps up to the Resturant/Lobby - thought we'd best walk off all the food and drink! The pool is nice but it's a bit small and gets busy late mornings/early afternoons. We ended up at the beach everyday, it is absolutely picture perfect. The beach is down a path from the pool and it only takes a couple of mins but again it is down steps and the last few steps are particulary steep. There are plenty of sunbeds available for a small charge and it's about a 5-10 minute walk down the beach into Karon town. The first restuarant you come to (right at the bottom of the steps) is fantastic. I think it is called 'Kai's' - it doesn't look much and we walked past it the first few days but after eating there it became our 'local' for lunch and is so cheap (about £4.00 for 2 meals and drinks). A small tip with the bill here will get you free sun loungers for the day and free fruit salads sent over! 'Kai' is a real character and as you laze on the beach you can hear him calling out 'Happy Thailand' to all the tourists who pass by!
