"Best value in this area"
I travel to Bangkok on Business every 6 weeks from Australia. I stay in this area for convenience when doing business.
I have stayed in 6 places in this area but always come back to Centrepoint. It has the best room size and ammenties in the area. Breakfast choices are not as vast as other places but sufficent for what you are looking for.
My biggest issue is the fact that they not only take a reading of your credit card when checking in, but actually take a hold of a set amount on your card - for extras if you book up anything. (they say). Surprisingly, it is the same amount that your accommodation is even though you have paid a third party for your booking and have a voucher. It is reversed when booking out, then they recharge you for any extras on a seperate transaction.
I really object to this and have voiced my oponion but they really don't care. If you want to stay there you have to wear it. Overall, it is the best place to stay for the value.

"good value, no probs"
I really appreciated that the rooms are quiet - although you hear the traffic hum outside like almost everywhere in bangkok, I never heard a sound from guests in neighbouring rooms which is good if you have had long flights or are a light sleeper, my situation. The beds are also very sleepable, not too hard. I was on the 28th floor and had a great view across the city towards the river from the balcony of my "single studio without kitchen" (although it actually did have a microwave, cutlery, etc and of course a fridge) which I got as an internet special for 3 nights for about $US150 in total. The staff are fine - I put all my laptop, cash etc in the small wardrobe room safe and then dumbly left the safe door open when I went out. Room service had been through by the time I came back, nothing missing and they opended the wardrobe door wide so I would see that I had not closed the safe. I stayed at centrepoint silom a couple of months earlier going in the other direction which was similar (but around 75 bucks/night for single with kitchen). Still a good deal if you want a quiet, clean, reliable hotel.

"Exceptional Value"
I had a free room at another hotel, but with several friends recommending Centre Point, I couldn't pass up the value and saved my free room for later. The rooms are large, with king bed, pull out twin, TV, kitchen area, two free small bottles of water, and free internet. Despite other reviews, I thought the included breakfast buffet was great, with fresh fruit, vegetables, cereals, rolls, yogurt, juices, Thai food, American breakfast, and cook-to-order eggs. When available, eating by the pool was nice. If you want to be in the garment district or go to the computer mall, it's in a great location, but for normal tourist sights be prepared to walk or take a taxi. From "The Official Bangkok Map" I picked up at the airport, I found the canal water taxi was about a 10-minute walk from the hotel. There was construction a few floors up from my room, but there was no problem moving into another room the day I was there to experience the pounding.
