"A very nice hotel"
I spent five nights in an Executive (i.e. junior) Suite on the 12th floor while attending a conference in early September.
Check-in was fast and efficient, and every aspect of the service to the rooms (room attendants and room service) and in the restaurants was uniformly friendly and efficient throughout my stay. The welcome fruit bowl was replenished daily, something that some much more expensive hotels in Europe fail to do.
The room was possibly the largest junior suite I have seen anywhere in the world. The living area had a large sofa and an armchair arranged around a coffee table, a round dining table with four chairs, and a good size desk with convenient power outlets. There was also an electric kettle and the wherewithal to make tea and coffee.
The bedroom area had a true kingsize bed and two sets of built-in closets; also an armchair and ottoman placed by one of the two enormous windows which provided a floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall view of the Bosphorus. The big bathroom had double sinks, a large bathtub and a separate shower. All the furnishings were very comfortable and in excellent condition. The dual zone air conditioning was silent and effective, and the room was quiet - I heard no traffic noise.
The included breakfast buffet was extensive, and the waiter-provided coffee service was fast and friendly.
Check-out was fast and accurate, no surprises.

"Excellent"
A really superb five-star grand hotel in the heart of the city, near Taxsim Square and the pedestrian Istiklal street. Excellent food, excellent guest rooms and public areas, well-trained and friendly staff, a magnificent "city lights" bar on rooftop with panoramic views of the Bosporus and town. I spent 4 days there, surely I will come back again and again. In one word: Excellent.

"Great Hotel!"
My girlfriend and I just returned from a 3 day weekend in Istanbul, and we spend 2 nights at the Ceylon Intercontinental, in an Executive Suite (room 615). This room was really huge, about 70 square meters at least, and very well decorated. But the key was the view... The room overlooked (through floor to ceiling windows) the Vosporos Straight, and from the 6th floor of a building built on a hilltop, the view was amazing. The staff was very helpful and courteous, and our overall experience was great. The location is fantastic, as the hotel is situated within a very quite area, a short 5 minute walk from the most central location in the city, Taksim square. It's within a 10 Lira (6 Euro) cab drive (very easy to find "taksi" around the hotel) from all the major points of interest (though mind the traffic...). Don't miss having a drink or snack at the rooftop bar, overlooking the sea, with a breathtaking view. The Safran Restaurant, located on the rooftop, is also supposed (because we did not go) to be excellent, one of the best in the city (though quite pricy). Overall, a great choice when staying in Istanbul!

"great hotel"
I stayed in June 2005 for a conference. The hotel was excellent. Got a room with a beautiful Bosphorous view, the room was clean and nice, the pool is perfect and the location was very good near the Taksim section of restaurants. The service was excellent too. The only downside, for some, would be that many of the historic sites are about a 15 minute drive away. I look forward to my next stay.
