"Wonderful Boutique Hotel"
We stayed here from May 27-May 31, 2005 and had such a great time! We booked a One-Bedroom Suite, non-smoking room. Our suite was quite spacious with a separate living room area, bedroom and kitchen-which I unfortunately did not use. Our view was over an undeveloped lot and some other buildings across the way-but it was very quiet as it was not on the roadside. There are some other rooms I noticed that viewed a very historic building but this was street-side so therefore could experience traffic noise. Being the start of winter, the heater, electric blanket and heated towel rails were definitely a plus. It's location is excellent-just outside of the hub of the city center, but within a five minute walk to everything-the Casino which was right around the corner, Victoria Square and Cathedral Square-where there are restaurants, the Visitor Information Center and more. Another benefit of staying here is being able to check emails for FREE (10 minute limit) and you can book any activities by using the house phone (saves the cost of a phone charge from you room). There are ample brochures to help yourself. Laundry facilities on the ground floor are available for $2/load and detergent was provided. The hotel also have breakfast dining-from continental to cooked breakfasts. For its overall value and location we definitely would not hesitate to stay at the Chateau Blanc Suites once again!

"Excellent location for Christchurch"
We stayed at Chateau Blanc in February amd found it a great base for travelling around the Christchurch area. Walking distance from the town centre and its wonderful restaurants and gorgeous New Zealand wines.(no i'm not an alchaholic)The rooms were spacious with good facilities. Breakfast was very good in the hotel and the staff were excellent.Parking is more than adequate but then again compared to London there isn't any traffic. Travelling in the Soth Island is like a gentle stroll in the park and an absaloute pleasure with scenery to die for.We would thoroughly recommend Chateau Blanc suites to families and couples alike, it really is good value.

"Excellent value for money"
The apartments were a little dated but well maintained and clean. We had treble the space found in a standard hotel room and paid half the cost. The room we booked had a double bedroom and large lounge/kitchen/dining room which also contained two twin beds. Breakfast was lovely and the service brisk. Our stay was made by the staff though who were always friendly and more than willing to help

"Large apartment in Christchurch"
Chateau Blanc suites was exactly as described on TripAdvisor. Despite only being there for two nights, we were given a corner suite, with wrap around balcony overlooking the park. The Lounge was at least twice the size of a regular hotel room. Separate bedroom and shower room. Very spacious and comfortable. The furniture and fittings were dated, but still entirely functional, and quite charming.
There was a fair bit of traffic noise from the one way system running by outside, but Christchurch rush hour does not seem to start early or last for long.
There was a well equipped kitchen area with good choice of teas and coffee, even biscuits replaced every day. Your microwave could be supplied with frozen meals from the big freezer in the hotel kitchen at very reasonable prices. There were some inexpensive minibar supplies in the fridge. We had no use for restaurants once we discovered we had a kitchen, table and chairs and a balcony to relax on. We were also influenced by the happy discovery that New Zealand is the home of the gourmet pie. After purchasing a guide book to NZ pies which listed all the best bakers and their pies we were never short of the basis of an inexpensive meal thereafter.
The hotel has a free Internet terminal and a guest laundry ( 2 washers, 2 dryers) for $2, with free washing powder. The staff were very helpful. Newspapers were delivered to the room for free and on the landing a tray of apples! Breakfast is offered in the hotel for $NZ 7 – 18.
It was only a 10 minute walk to the centre of town. About three blocks to the arts centre, where there are lots of little shops with tourist goods. We recommend being punted on the Avon as a memory to cherish, if you get a sunny day that is.
To sum up, definitely a very pleasant apartment rather than a hotel.

"wonderful value for money!"
We had previously booked another hotel in Christchurch and then re-booked with Chateau Blanc after reading the reviews on this site. It was definitely the right decision. Although the other hotel was in the centre, it is a very pleasant stroll from Chateau Blanc to the centre. There are also a couple of good restaurants on the way and the new and stunning Arts Centre.
Our suite was amazing value for money. We had booked a package that included, full breakfast, a bottle of champagne and a fruit basket. The suite was a very good size and we had a small patio with furniture as well. All this came to considerably less than our first hotel booking, and that was just a room. Not only that, but we received a bottle of champagne and replenished fruit basket for both the nights we stayed.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and we would certainly not hesitate in recommending Chateau Blanc and would definitely return. It isn't luxury, but it's ver, very comfortable and amazing value.
