"Loved the D'Esclimont"
I had my destination wedding at the Esclimont in June 2004. There were 8 of us, very small wedding. But the hotel treated us like we were royal. The events coordinator actually called me in the US b/c the chef had a question about the wedding cake. Once we got there it was truly amazing and beautiful, almost exactly 1 hour outside of Paris. It looks like a fairy tale castle. The rooms are beautiful and nicely furnished. We got a bottle of champagne and a fruit basket on our arrival. The restaurant was fantastic! The food was 5 star and delicious! Their 6 course dinner is well worth the price! Everyone was so nice. Our wedding was outdoors but we had to reserve a room for the wedding in case it rained. The back-up room cost $1000 and it didnt rain, so we didnt use it and they never charged us for it! When we asked them why the bill was much lower than it should be they said they didnt charge us for the room, since we didnt use it! Any American hotel would have charged us for the room whether we used it or not. It was so nice of them to do that.
As for transportation, arrange to rent a car or arrange for a transport at a fixed price to take you to the hotel from paris, b/c a taxi is 200 Euro! I know that b/c the transport we reserved never showed up and we had to call two taxis to get to the airport. Luckily, the transport company paid for the taxis since it was their mistake.

"Regal chateau!"
We stayed just this past week and had a wonderful large room for our two girls and my husband and I. The bathroom tile was a bit odd given it was brown and seemed dated, but otherwise the terry robes and oversized towels were lovely additions. Two comfortable cots were added at turn down time for the girls.
The beds were comfortable, the chateau quiet except for the pigeons in the a.m. which we found charming. Our room overlooked the entrance and check in/out was pleasant and friendly.
We had a dinner package along w/ breakfast for our family package and both were excellent. They even presented the girls with 2 versions of a children's menu (Enfant Menu and Menu Petite Gastroque) We had breakfast delivered and had ample cont. breakfast for 4, plus my husband ordered an omlet which looked good. The dinner was wonderful and presentations outstanding. The dining room is lovely as well and on a weekend, reservations are a must.
You can't beat the tranquil setting in the lovely 150 acre wooded area. The only downfalls we found were that the chateau actually goes by 2 names (D'Esclimont and St Symphorien) which confused us a bit and signage is not well marked off the N10, especially northbound from the highway. Do get a better map than their website printed off. Additionally, no coffee/tea maker is in the room which we missed for a 4 star. Otherwise, a lovely stay and very easy access to Versailles.

"The Best Place I have ever stayed at!!!!"
It was a dark and foggy night. We first got to the village near the castle and had to ask for direction. The villagers were nice to point to the direction of the castle but it was so foggy we had to just trust their directions. We drove about 5 miles per hour in the fog until we saw a huge gate and hesitantly entered. It was so foggy night...we drove for about 15 minutes until we saw some light then as we got closer the castle walls revealed themselves to us. It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. The heavy fog and the light stemming from the castle made the image surreal.
We finally stepped out of our car and into the castle. The staff was excellent! We were treated like royalty. Dinner was exquisite. The food was ambrosia...The restaurant service was impeccable. I have been to top notch French restaurants in NY and LA and I can say that Chateau D'Esclimont's service far surpassed any of those restaurants. I felt like I was dining with Royalty. The dining room's decor further emphasized the luxury of the castle. The walls were covered with gold framed mirrors and paintings of a bygone era. The crown and mouldings were just beautiful. Everything about the dining room swept me into a romantic era.
The rooms were just as I expected...luxurious and grand. I loved the bathroom especially the large marble tub. That night I truly felt like I was in a bygone era of royalty.
The next day, my boyfriend and I walked on the castle grounds. As reached the other side of the pond and looked back at the castle, my boyfriend got down on his knees and proposed to me with a Tiffany diamond ring. Everything was perfect. I wanted to freeze the moment forever. It was the most romantic sight and place. Alas, we had to leave for the U.S. the next day. However, we will come back to this wonderful and magical place on our anniversary as Chateau D'Esclimont will forever have a place in our hearts.
Thank you.
