"A delightful time at the Chateau d'Artigny"
The Chateau d'Artigny was magical. I had been there for a concert as a student 34 years ago and went back on a nostalgic trip. We went with friends and stayed overnight. They immediately upgraded our room as the hotel wasn't full. We were also celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We had dinner at the chateau and it was outstanding (albeit expensive). The wine was fabulous and the cheese cart beyond belief! They were so gracious when they heard our story and provided us with champagne and a cake "gratuit". A really nice side trip from Paris.

"Romantic Chateau"
My wife and I stayed here on our Honeymoon and loved it. The chateau was built in the 1920s and was built to look like a chateau, or more accurately, what you expect a chateau to look like. It is on a hill up a curving road. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel is grand with long corridors and stately staircases. The top floor has a painted dome ceiling with characters at a costume ball staring down from above. Our room was very large; champagne and fruit were waiting for us when we arrived. The staff was polite and unobtrusive. The place is HUGE and was built before elevators, so don't be surprised if you have a long walk. The bellmen will carry your bags up the old servant stairs. The bedroom was over-the-top, with what must have been 15 foot ceilings. We had a couch and a nice view, the best view was from the restaurant. King sized beds are two double beds placed together. They had big round bolsters on the bed which were too hard or floppy European pillows. The bathroom had a shower with side jets on one side, a whirlpool tub and lighted table for ladies to do their makeup. The toilet and bidet were in a separate room off the bathroom. The staff was very helpful. I was sick with the flu one night and my wife, who speaks no French, arranged dinner in our room, which was just as lovely as the food in the restaurant. The restaurant is excellent. This is where you will see the locals, or at least the locals with enough money to eat here. You will feel more comfortable in jacket and tie. The chateau has a 10,000 bottle wine cellar. The wine steward was absolutely wonderful. We are no wine experts and he suggested wines by the glass the first night. He asked what we liked and the next night, remember what we liked. The waiters were very good. One waitress looked you over like she was the hall monitor in school, but for the most part they are formal but polite. (Remember, being a waiter in France is not a temporary job for college kids. Dining in France is like dining in the United States before waiters started telling you their first names and wearing plastic name tags.) The place is pricey, slightly pretentious, and OH SO WONDERFUL!
