"Gorgeous grounds and lovely room"
A friend and I stayed at la Pioline for two nights and loved every moment. The grounds and chateau itself are beautiful. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. The groundskeeper is a sweetheart and took care of my friend when she sprained her ankle. We thought we'd have a hard time finding it because it's outside Aix, but there are numerous signs and we had no trouble at all. If you're looking for a nice relaxing and very charming place to stay near Aix this is a great choice.

"Magnifique!"
I was surprised to read some of the poor reviews on this site. We have nothing but praise to heap on this beautiful hotel. We live in Los Angeles and have stayed in many 5 star hotels, and Chateau de la Pioline is equal if not better than all of them.
We stayed there for one exquisite night on our way from Paris to Grasse in order to have more time to visit St. Remy. I am so glad we decided to do that! The whole place is like something out of a Merchant Ivory film. Our room - just the Standard - was lovely with plenty of toiletries in the (very clean) marble bathroom. We had fabulous French (of course) windows that opened over the pool and the decor was charming.
We had dinner in the restaurant which was truly one of the best meals we have ever had. We chose the Menu Gourmand, which was 7 courses of the chef's specialties du jour. Exquisite! The wine, the food & the service were all divine.
We also enjoyed our breakfast the next morning on the patio by the pool. I personally do not think 15-20 euros is too much for a fancy breakfast in an idyllic setting, but if you do, remember - you're on vacation! Splurge a little and enjoy some elegance.
I cannot praise the Chateau enough & we will certainly stay there again.
