The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is very close to the hotel and is a popular destination among tourists. The Catholic religious residence of St. Francisco was situated where the museum is presently situated. This is because the Catholic religious residence of St. Francisco was destroyed to a large extent by a cataclysmic earthquake in 1856.
The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion was erected at the same spot by the year 1940 after almost forty-years of architectural toil.
The first floor of the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion displays vestiges of frescoes of the Minoan Palace of Knossos. All artifacts and frescoes are displayed in the museum according to their dates of design.
