Great place to stay, location ok
Room is big, comfortable, close to American standards. Breakfast is big, but typical European style (bread, meat, cheese). Staff friendly, very helpful. Finding this hotel is very tricky, get detailed directions before attempting to find it!! |

"The hotel was clean, the rooms large"
The hotel was clean, the rooms large. Breakfast room is very small and often you have to wait your turn! |

"it was fine"
For the price it was fine. The hotel was clean, the staff was courteous. The location is accessible to the Old Town and restaurants (10 minute walk). There is a bar that is located directly next to the hotel that seems to be always busy. |

Great Hotel
The City Hotel Franfurt was a great hotel for the price. The room was clean, the staff was very courteous and the breakfasts were great. I did not have hot water to take a shower on the first morning after my arrival and when I mentioned this after breakfast, they said that they were having problems with their hot water tank and compensated me by giving me a small bottle of sparkling wine. I did not have any hot water problems during the rest of my stay. What was really great though was there is an internet establishment right across the street from the hotel that is open until 10 p.m. every night. |

Decent, inexpensive accommodation in Frankfurt's City Centre
I stayed at the City Hotel, Allerheiligenstrasse 30 in Frankfurt over one weekend in November 2004. The hotel is "new", that is, it was established only recently in August 2004. The building was built in the late 1960's. The reception desk is small, and there is a lift to the upper floors.
The double rooms look like they were previously self-contained flatlets, which means that they're actually quite large (over 20 square metres) with large windows (very efficient sound proofing and outside blinds which are typical of German houses). They have a small hallway with a wardrobe, hooks for the coats and a large mirror. The bathroom is a bit on the small side with a shower cabin, hair dryer and a few toiletries (soap, shampoo, shower gel). Everything looks very new.
The actual room is large and would satisfy a four-star standard (clean, bright, with a small fridge, desk, chair, armchair, chest of drawers, TV). The furnishings are made of dark wood, while the walls are painted in magnolia. The central heating was working very well, windows can be opened wide - in case it is too hot.
The food is fine - crispy rolls, toast, jam, honey, cheese, ham or salami, cereals, juices, fruit, yoghurt, fresh coffee or tea. By and large, they offer all the foods you would expect from a breakfast buffet in a three-star hotel.
It's only a five-minute walk to the famous Zeil shopping street and about 10 - 15 minutes walk to Sachsenhausen, where Frankfurt's night life is at its best. Public transport (station "Konstablerwache") is about 3 minutes on foot.
Altogether I would recommend this hotel to travellers who desire a nice, spacious and comfortable room. |
