"Great for Vegetarians!!!!" My wife and I stayed at the Bernese Oberland Hotel in September 2004. As a base for touring around the Jungfrau area it was OK, but the time taken to walk to the railway station and then get to the Wengen/Murren areas seemed a bit too long. The place is nice and comfortable and in a superb location in Interlaken but does need redecorating and modernising a bit. The staff at this place were great, especially when my wife told them she was vegetarian - every day thereafter she was given her own separate menu. The dining room is a pleasant enough place and there is various entertainment throughout the week. Breakfast was good and plentiful but could be very chaotic! If you want to stay in Interlaken, you could do far worse than the Bernese Oberland.

"Good Value & Location" We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in early September '05. It is a modest hotel but very clean. The staff was efficient and friendly. The beds were very comfortable. We asked for a nice view and our room looked out on Stubbach Falls--very pretty. Our room was quite large for European standards, even had a 3rd bed and balcony with chairs and table. The bathroom was added to the room and you had a 12" step up to enter it but it had full tub/shower combo--nice. It is in an excellent location, 5 minutes from the train station and in the foothills of the Alps. You catch all the mountain trains in Lauterbrunnen. We ate 2 dinners at their restaurant, traditional Swiss, pretty good. It was a good value for the price, $115 US per night including breakfast, and a great location for exploring the Alps.

"Incredible!" Absolutely Incredible!! Never have a stayed any where like this hotel. It had the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in while travelling. The room was great, you could have to people in it and not run into one another, the bathroom was a decent size, and there was NO mould in the shower!! There was a window in the bathroom, which was great, and the window in our room had a wonderful view of the mountains in the distant. We had a room on the first floor, so we could walk out onto the roof of the reception building and have a balcony! It was beautiful hotel, and it was within walking distance of a lot of quaint shops, the train station to go up to Jungfrau Jok, and restaurants. The hotel also had an AMAZING breakfast. There was bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, cereal, toast, coffee, tea, fruit, and everything else you could possible think of!! It was such a big breakfast you didn't need to eat lunch. There was a really good restaurant just down the road from it as well, called Bebbie's. The food was amazing, and the owner, Bebbie, was quite the character. He kept us entertained all night!! There's also a restaurant right behind the hotel that had pretty decent food as well. I'd reccomend this hotel to any one that's wanting to stay in Interlaken!!

Brussels, Belgium We stayed here in April 2007, and the rate was amazingly reasonable for Switzerland, even off-season. We had a room with a balcony facing the central street, with a nice view on the Alpes. The bathroom was very-very decent, so was the breakfast, which, indeed, needed to be struggled through some big-sized touristic groups. I'd definitely stay there again, and recommend it for staying. Nice value for money.
