Clarendon Hotel is the oldest hotel in Quebec City (1870). The Clarendon Hotel stands out from other hotels in the Old City by virtue of its architecture. Instead of resembling a “château”, as do so many establishments in this part of town, the Clarendon is a jewel of modern decorative arts, a combination of Art Nouveau from the Belle Époque and Art Deco from the Roaring Twenties. Quebec City’s only New York-style skyscraper, the 17-storey Price Building, which dates back to 1929, is the Clarendon’s next-door neighbour. Of course, where else would expect to find such a prestigious building with Art Deco architecture?
As proof of Quebec City’s fondness for this architectural treasure, the Clarendon Hotel was spared the rush to modernize the concrete jungle in the 1970s and was not subjected to the indignity of improvised renovations. The Provincial Premier stays in the Price Building when the National Assembly is in session. And many members of the National Assembly and government ministers have been guests at the Clarendon Hotel, making the hotel a kind of miniature “Parliament Building”!

great location
I just came back from a New Year’s weekend stay at this hotel and have to say that I’m quite impressed. I was a bit apprehensive, as some of the reviews were a bit mixed, but after my visit, I have to wonder what those people were complaining about. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and attentive, the atmosphere of the hotel was quaint yet comfortable, and it is perfectly located. |

Excellent Hotel at Great Location
My husband and I had a lovely experience at this hotel. The rooms were quiet and clean. The service was always impecable. We drove to Quebec and I was concerned about parking from all of the stories I had heard or read about. We really didn’t need the car though as our location was the best. The Clarendon is in the heart of Upper Quebec near all restaurants and many important sights. I also had the pleasure of using the spa services at the hotel. They were less expensive than at home in Chicago and were also provided with great service. We did not eat at the hotel as it was mostly fine dining. The music in the bar each night was a very nice way to end the evening. Most nights it was either Jazz, Blues or a World Music mix. Low key but great with a drink before bed. I highly recommend the Hotel Clarendon whether it’s business or pleasure. |

Wonderful Hotel
I stayed at the Hotel Clarendon for business, and it was absolutely beautiful, it was historic looking to me, I loved it (tall ceilings, nice furniture). I recommend the deluxe queen room with sitting area, it is extremely spacious.The food is great and there is wireless and dial up internet. This is right in the middle of shopping, so everything is right w/in walking distance. I would not stay anywhere else, this is the place for me to stay over and over again! |

Wonderful Stay
Good location to all the main sightseeing spots in the old town. It is just located across from the city hall. Receptionits are very helpful and kind. The room is a little small and cold although they offer to change the room. The bathroom has a jacuzzi and the room has a nice view. It is good to have jacuzzi after coming back from sightseeing in the cold winter. Overall, I recommend this hotel. |

Classy and Convenient
Where to begin, we celebrated our first anniversary at Clarendon,we were welcomed by complementary wine chilled and glasses and delicious chocolates,a beautiful water view room ,we did switch rms immediately to a smoking room and they were fine with that we were moved right away,so call ahead let them know what your special occasion is, the rm excellent,classy,clean,prompt friendly service,staff are mostly bilingual and very resoursefull with suggestions and directions,the room was warm,the beds are very comfty,you regulate your own room temperature,and by far the most convenient route walking distance anywhere, the meals more then we could eat and a great variety. They offer Spa treatments at reasonable rates the spa rooms are clean and up to date, its more then a hotel its an experience.This Hotel is so beautiful just walking in the lobby you feel as sense of ownership pride. ENJOY IT! for all it has we did !! |
