"Very Modern, Clean, great location"
Like the other reviewer, I booked a hotel/flight/train package through Gate1 travel agency (all the hotels in their mid level package were great). Prague is a walking city, and the Clarion is in the Old Town/Josefov districts. The closest metro stop Nam Republiky is only 5 minutes away, and through the metro you're easily connected to the Eurorail and various bus terminals that will take you to other places in the Czech Republic. One street off of Hradebni called Dlouha has many ethnic restaurants, if you're tired of Bohemian fare. The housekeeping was excellent and the room was very modern and Westernized. Breakfast was the only downside to this establishment, but only because this was the last leg of our trip and had some comparison with other cities's hotels. The selection was average and acceptable, but not really outstanding like the others. We left for Cesky Krumlov for one night and the hotel porter was very accomodating in letting us leave our luggage there, even warning us not to get scared if someone else retrieved ou bags when we got back since he would be leaving for vacation himself for the next 5 days. Recommended.

"Excellent base for sightseeing"
Booked this Hotel through Expedia for a trip in February with my girlfriend. We got one night free so our total cost of staying 3 nights was a mere 200 Euros and for that price we really got a nice hotel.
The rooms were nice big and clean and there was a big bathroom and Satelitte TV also.
This Hotel is perfect if you want to see Prague sight it is located right in the middle of all the atraction we walked around to everything in less than 15-20. The castle the brigde and what have you.
Breakfast was fairly average.
Good points
Unbeatable Location
Nice rooms
Quiet Athmosphere
Clean
Friendly staff
Bad point.
The hotel is not as pretty from the outside as it is on the picture. it is not White but rather USSR green brownish. but no biggie

"Excellent hotel"
We stayed at the Hotel Clarion 4/07 for 5 nights. While the hotel is not in the perfect location (very far from Prague Castle), it was close to the center square and not too far from the Charles Bridge. However, the hotel staff was very helpful. Our luggage did not arrive (as an aside, will never fly British Airways again - they do not let you book your transatlantic seats until 24 hours before departure, which was a nightmare), but the Clarion staff called the airport to help track down our luggage and brought it to our room once delivered. They got cabs for us at reasonable rates. The daily breakfast buffet was incredible - the coffee was not great, but how can you complain when there was an abundance of fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, meats, cheeses, and pastries? The entire staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. There is also free internet access in the lobby, which was wonderful for keeping in touch with the kids. The only bad part is that many people in Europe still smoke, so the stairways were very smoke filled (as were the restaurants in Prague), but the breakfast was non-smoking. Would definitely stay again. Most importantly, Prague is a magical city. It was more beautiful than pictures depicted. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend it. Many fine museums, concerts, ballets, operas, and amazing views from the Charles Bridge!

"Clean, modern and close to everything"
Quick review...clean and modern rooms, air conditioning, hot shower. Hotel is not fancy by any Western standars, but right up there for Eastern Europe. I did not notice anything wrong with my room. I only slept there, meaning...Prague is such a wonderful place to visit that if you are wasting time in your room shame on you!
My only problem at all in Prague was paying high rates for taxi service, including the driver from the train station wanting 700K (about $28US) for a 5-10 minute ride. The metro is so cheap (less than $1US) for a trip that you are silly not to use it.
Enjoy your trip. Prague is everything you have read about and more. Try to get out to the countryside as well. Driving is reasonably easy, but a little on the pricy side to rent a car. DO NOT drive a rental in from Germany or Austria or the local crime element will have new toy to play with.

"Clean Pleasent Hotel"
The hotel is located to the north east of the old town square about 10 min walk.
On arrival reception staff were helpfull and efficent. Room was spacious with large clean bathroom.
Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was good, not british style, but still plenty of choice.
We tried evening dinner in hotel restaurant, we walked in at 630pm, restaurant opens at 6pm, but it was barren, eventually a waiter appeared who was not very helpful. We ordered our food from a pricey menu by Prague standards, and after 45mins wait nothing had appeared and waiter could not be found! We walked out and informed recepition. We left hotel turned right and took first street on our right walked 100m and found a fantastic restaurant with brilliant prices, meal for 3 plus drinks was £16!
The evening meal issue did not spoil our overall impression of this nice hotel.

"Going back again"
The Clarion Hotel in Prague was a pleasant surprise. It was even better than it looked online. Conveniently located about a 20 minute walk from Charles Bridge, overlooking the Vlatva River, it was spotlessly clean and the staff was pleasant with decent English. Their driver was waiting for us at the airport (750 crowns - about $30 - for airport ride). Room was large and very comfortable. Bring your own facecloths - none are provided - but I hear that's true of most of Europe. First class restaurant should have been busier, but it was not in the immediate downtown area, so not a lot of walk-by traffic. Breakfast buffet (included w/room) was very good. Had a little trouble with the wireless internet the last day, but they let us use the computer in the lobby. Only a 5 minute walk to the subway. Public transit in Prague is phenomenal - three day pass unlimited subway/bus/tram was about $8.00. Would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel
Just back from Prague and have to say we liked it. The hotel has a nice lobby bar, and a restaurant which we only used for breakfast. The food was very nice and service friendly. The location is great for walking to the nearby attractions, weather permitting, with the Old Town Square being about 15 mins - max.
I had a wonderful time in Prague, and staying at the Clarion made it all the better. I would recommend it. |
