Literally opposite the Columbia hotel is Hyde Park which is one of the great Royal Parks of London and is right in the centre of London. Hyde Park boasts over 4,000 trees as well as the famous Serpentine lake where you can swim or hire a boat. Hyde park also has its own riding stables so you can hire a horse and ride on the historic bridleways that king Henry the VIII and his court used to gallop accross as they hunted for wild animals. These days the rides are more sedate and just for pleasure!
Hyde Park also offers a playground and THE LOOKOUT where children can learn about nature and wildlife. There are also several restaurants and cafes in Hyde park. Hyde Park is open from 5 am until midnight all year round
