LOCATION
From the pine-panelled lobby to the picturesque Cottage Bar, the three star Connemara Gateway hotel exudes a warmth of welcome, so much a part of the West of Ireland way of life.
Just twenty minutes drive from the bustling city of Galway, in its own well-maintained grounds, activity opportunities abound on your doorstep. From Oughterard's magnificent 18-hole golf course to Lough Corrib and Connemara, all are within easy access of this attractive home from home.
Galway, the unofficial capital of the West, is a delightful, prosperous city brimming with history and filled with top class shopping precincts, theatres, pubs and restaurants. The city's vibrant cultural life includes a year-round calendar of events including the Arts Festival and the famous Galway Race Week at the end of July, the Jazz Festival in February, the Cuirt Festival of Literature at Easter and the Galway International Oyster Festival at the end of September.
Connemara Safaris are located to the west of Clifden and surrounded by probably the best scenic views in this region. These unique experiences can be both educational and pleasurable, as you take in the panoramic views on either the walking holiday or the island hopping excursion. Each tour is hosted by archaeologist Gerry MacCloskey and by local experts Gerry Greensmyth and Brian Hughes, both well versed in the vagaries of the area. They know just the right spots to view native birds and sea life from, and if you are very lucky you may see basking sharks between the islands. Just remember to bring suitable walking boots and raingear.

" Wonderful place"
Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel during the month of February. We wanted somewhere where we could relax and enjoy ourselves and that is exactly what we got at this hotel. The food was just fantastic and all staff were so friendly and helpful. I would definatley recommend this hotel and we will be back again in the near future
