A unique hotel, in a unique building, with a unique location.
In the summer of 2006, Copenhagen Island Hotel will be lowering the drawbridge and opening the doors to a very special hotel: the Copenhagen Island, a state-of-the-art hotel in an exquisite design, with a wonderful view of the harbour.
The hotel, designed by the architect Kim Utzon, is located on an island in the middle of Copenhagen harbour, and offers 326 rooms and meeting facilities for up to 90 persons, as well as a fitness centre, business centre and an exciting restaurant. The experience will be exquisite! Like the other hotels in the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group, the Copenhagen Island has been created on the basis of the Group's philosophy for hotel operations: "A unique hotel in a unique building with a unique location. |
|
LOCATION
Copenhagen Island Hotel lies in the heart of Copenhagen at kalvebod Brygge, close to the Fisketorvet mail, and just a few minutes walk from Tivoli and the city centre.
Copenhagen boasts theatres, museums and a lively, surprisingly cutting-edge nightlife scene. The best the country has to offer can be experienced in the capital city, where design studios rub shoulders with ultra-hip bars, and modern architecture boldly occupies the space between 17th-century buildings, military installations and the sea.

"Nice Contemporary design"
My husband and I stayed here when the Hotel was almost finished. Not too far from city centre. Loved the design, staff were courteous.....
...............even the workmen. Breakfast was very enjoyable. We had
a room overlooking the water and found it very peaceful and relaxing.
We had stayed previously at an inner city hotel near the Tivoli and found it extremely noisy.
The hotel is next to a large shopping complex and a stop for the sightseeing canal boats, which was fantastic. We stayed for 3 nights and it was very enjoyable even though the hotel was not quite finished. We would definetly stay here again.

"Wonderful Hotel Experience"
Arrived June 2nd from 24 hr transatlantic flight. Hotel was a short distance from the train station. Clean design on the water front. Rooms although small have several amentities. Short walk to tourists spots but far enough away to avoid the hard core soccer fans. Sunday breakast had a wide selection and one could watch rowing skulls in the sea channel. Minus on the service ... Hotel rent ed our room three times to other parties after we checked in.....
Overall a very good hotel... service could stand a little polishing!

"Good Hotel"
I was sceptical about staying at the Hotel after reading some of the negative reviews. I spent 4 nights at the hotel and enjoyed the whole stay. i found the service on the front desk helpful and friendly, the breakfast a delight, the rooms, yes small but clean, tidy and stylish. after a full breakfast we enjoyed the 15-20 minute walk to the centre/train station, Overall we have no complaints and were very pleased with the stay.

"Great hotel"
We were just a little apprehensive about our visit to the Copenhagen Island Hotel having read the reviews on Trip Advisor. All can say is that perhaps the hotel have acted on the feedback and made some improvements...
We were there over New Year and the staff were all really friendly and helpful - offering us advice on things to do on New Years Eve around the city. We also got a room upgrade so we were overlooking the harbour and, whilst the room was fairly compact, it was also very well designed, modern and spotlessly clean. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast - in particular the bacon and danish pastries - darn fine coffee too - not like the watered down sweepings in some hotels...
It's around a ten to fifteen minute stroll from the centre of Copenhagen but there are some decent bars nearer on the Istedgade which are cheaper. In the centre bars it can get fairly pricey. There's a big shopping centre next door and across the road there is a S-train station if you don't fancy the walk.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again but I would go back in summer next time as the weather was on the nippy side. If you like fireworks though then you should go at new year - I have never seen so many - all over the city for hours - the best free fireworks I have ever seen. The best organised display I've ever seen was at Tivoli the night before.

"Great Hotel in Copenhagen"
Location- The Copenhagen Island Hotel is away from the center of activity. The Central Station/ Trivoli stop is the center of activity and that metro stop is called Kobenhaven H. The hotel is located at the Dybbolsbro metro stop which is one stop away. You can buy a card for 10 rides at the Central Station. You must punch the card each time you ride the train or metro. You need to buy the card before you get to the hotel because there is not a person to help you at the Dybbolsbro stop. There is a ticket machine there but it is not in English.
The Hotel sits on the water and is very scenic. It is next door to a three level shopping mall which has a grocery store and many places to eat.
The hotel is new and is still under construction. Our room was average size with a beautiful view of the water. It was clean with a comfortable bed and great TV. The bathroom was almost as large as the bedroom. The lighting is wonderful. The breakfast was a nice surprise. We took our own luggage up to our room. I think there was only one bellman there.
If you are wheelchair bound or have a hard time with steps, this is NOT the hotel for you. To get to the lobby you have to go up about ten steps. They have a lift for wheelchairs and luggage but it was not woking when we tried it and there was no one to help us. If you have active children, this is NOT the hotel for you. This hotel sits on the water and there are no rails to keep a child from falling in.
My husband and I loved the hotel because it was quiet, pretty , modern, had air conditioning, and was affordable as compared to other hotels. We had post cruise friends staying in other hotels near the center of activiy and they were dissappointed in their rooms. We were not.

"Brand new and stylish"
Rooms are surprisingly small, but very stylish and clean.
Fantastic view from the balcony over the harbour.
(City-rooms have a view to the towers of Copenhagen)
Staff nice and efficient - and patient with people take their time with questions about sightseeing and buses.
Very nice breakfast in stylish surroundings with harbour-view.
If the rooms were bigger it would have been rated excellent. |
