"Very nice Hotel with character."
We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Plaza, and found the hotel very nice, especially for Denmark. We've booked a junior suite -we were told that there would be a tivoli view- but, we were upgraded to a suite with an inner view at no extra charge, so no complaints. The lobby is small, wood pannelled and there is a plaque in a column with all the celebrities that have stayed there. The lift is very charming and old and the corridors are decorated with paintings inspired of HC Andersen's tales. Our suite was on the 5th floor had a chinese theme with some antiques and paintings from there, very well soundproofed with thick walls and despite the fact that is a smoking room there wasnt any smoke at all. It was composed of a large living room with 1 sofa, 1 armchair, 2 chairs, a small TV, a desk and 2 chinise antique bookcases. The bedroom had a very comfortable bed, a large closet and a big TV. The bathroom was spacious with seperate bathtub and shower heated floor and nice tiles. Service was good and efficient, they have turndown service daily except saturaday and sunday night, and food in restaurant was delicious. The hotel has one of the most convenient locations in Copenhagen with tivoli-which unfortunately was closed during our stay, the Central Train Station, the city hall square and Stroget few mminutes away. The only minor complaint was that i havent received a welcome gift (because i am a Privilleged Guest member), but i was offered a welcome drink-2 bottles of mineral sparkling water and some fruits, at the room on arrival.

"Wonderful Staff, Perfect Location"
We Pricelined this hotel for $75 a night and were not expecting to get the best room, nor did we get the best room. However, the room we did get was surprisingly pleasant. The bed was big and comfy and the room was large for Europe. The best part of this hotel is its location and staff. The staff was wonderful, even making late night dinner reservations for us. The Library Bar was very quaint w/a great Jazz band on Saturday nights. The hotel is located right outside the train station and within walking distance to all Copenhagen has to offer. Only negatives were the rug was little worn and the bathroom had some black grout and chipped tile. But everything else was perfect.

"Snug at the Sofitel"
Just enjoyed 4 nights at this cosy, warm and welcoming hotel. The breakfast buffet was tasty and plentiful, even at 10.30 when the buffet closed. The double room on the second floor was comfortable and clean. We particularly enjoyed drinking in the wonderfully atmospheric library bar decorated with the upside down Christmas tree.

"Great Sofitel"
-Just got back from a weekend at the lovely Sofitel CPH. We arrived early (10.00 am) thinking we coulnt check in. But no... the staff was great, found a very nice cosy room for us. Front staff was great. You can ask them anything. The hotel is lovely. Great lobby. Love the old glass lift. The rooms are great. Nice fresh, very clean rooms. Everything to a very high standart. -We had a room on the top floor. Nice cosy with a lovely big soft (but not too soft) bed. zzz Didn't try the breakfast. For 145.00 Kr. I think you can find other places cheaper. -Overall a lovely great hotel.

"4 Star Hotel "
We arrived at the airport at 10.15am and after catching a train, 10 mins later we were at the hotel. The location of this hotel could not be faulted, afterall who wants to trudge the streets of anywhere tired and exhausted when you can walk 100m from the hotel door to the station. The hotel had two views, one was of some building works going on (couldnt hear any noise myself) the other was at the side overlooking Tivoli. Tivoli, being across the road was a marvel at night, especially near christmas where Santa was out, the stalls were open and the twinkling lights in the thousands really made it Christmas. The hotel lobby was definately a vision of elegance, the glass lift was unusual and so to was the Library. This library/bar actually suspends a 30 foot christmas tree upside down from the ceiling! It has a dikensian feel about it and as I pufed my cigarette I thought about the olden days. I must admit i was slightly disappointed with the room, it was small, but the bed was oh so comfy and the view. wow. The bathroom was small, but perfectly formed, two minor irritations were a) the room smelt heavily of cigarettes (so ask for a non smoking room) and two the drains seem to smell out the bathroom on occasions, but nothing really to spoil the stay. I think £130 a night was slightly expensive, but then again after a few hours the high prices everywhere (beer was £5 a glass) soon wore off. I would avoid any Chinese Buffet in the city, we went to one and it cost £12 each, they tried to charge £3.80 for a small bottle of water when it should be have been £2.20. Copenhagen is a shopping wonderland, i really mean it. Nyhavn was nice for a stroll. The airport shops were fantastic. Overall a brilliant weekend and brilliant stay.

Overall, the Sofitel Plaza is a great hotel, very clean with good service, old world charm and ambiance and despite the fact that is part of an international chain it has character, that is so hard to find these days.
