"couldn't be better!"
My friend and I stayed in the hotel for one night only from the 6th May. The hotel is situated on the Quayside, which is superb viewing and very modern. The hotel is old fashioned and it is obvious that it needs a facelft. We had booked a standard room but the receptionist informed us that we would be getting a free upgrade. What a great start! The room was quite big and waiting for us was a bottle of wine, small box of chocs and some fruit. This meant we could use the lounge especially for these guests. We headed down to the Le club which was very relaxing and the staff are friendly. I recommend on getting a massage. The bar is very informal and staff couldn't be nicer. We dined in Harry's restaurant on the evening before we went out even though the decoration isn't up to much we have never experienced such incredible service before. The food was really satisfying but one of the waitresses (who served us in the lounge) was really friendly, bubbly and went out of her way to make sure our meal and our experience was enjoyible. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

"Better than expected"
To conclude our Autumn holiday to the Lake District we spent one night in Newcastle before returning to Holland. Via DFDS Seaways we booked the Copthorne because we wanted to stay on the famous Newcastle Tyne-quayside. The Tripadvisor reviews we read beforehand gave us mixed feelings, but that was the case with all other Newcastle hotels. The Copthorne certainly is not a cheap hotel. We paid Euro 70 per person for the room incl. breakfast, which appeared to be full-English breakfast of very good quality. To our surprise we got a Connoisseur room on the 5th floor, with beautiful interiors and the possibility of late check-out. Since we went shopping the next day, we still could return to our room at 1500, have a short rest and prepare for going to the late-afternoon ferry to IJmuiden. Concluding: we had a wonderful experience in this fine hotel, beautifully situated on the quayside.
