"nice views and are sized to the European standard"
Corallo Hotel has an older and new section. Rooms in the new section generally have nice views and are sized to the European standard. The older section is a converted apartment building with individualized rooms. The hotel is very clean and quiet. There is a large, clean and beautiful patio and pool area with chairs and tables. The pool is lit at night and even just sitting out is delightful. The elevator holds four adults.

: "Nice Small Hotel"
The Hotel Corallo is a comparatively small hotel on the coast, under the hill town of Taormina on the north-eastern corner of Sicily. The hotel is 4 floors with elevator service and a small swimming pool. Rooms are brightly painted and comfortable and the Air Conditioning worked in May 2004. The first floor lobby has a good selection of local tourist literature and staff was helpful about bus routes and schedules. The dining room is on the second floor with windows overlooking the bay. Breakfast was good and included the usual yogurt, ham, croissants, juices, etc. Our Globus tour included one dinner at the hotel - a delicious pea soup or pasta with eggplant starter, fish and yummy canoli for dessert. Globus appears to use the hotel regularly on the Sicily tours. The hotel is off the main bayside street up a short uphill residential street. If you walk out of the hotel downhill to the right and cross the main street, you will be at a public bus stop. Busses run frequently and cost very little. Take the bus up and back down from the hill side town of Taormina. The buses stop at a central bus and taxi plaza, leaving a short uphill climb lined with souvenier shops into Taormina proper. There is a steep hillside path from the back of the hotel up into Taormina, but according to our fellow tourists, it should be attempted only by the most fit travelers. Under no circumstances should anyone attempt to walk from the hotel up to Taormina - the streets have few, if any, sidewalks, and traffic is chaotic. Taxis are an expensive option. The bus is a great option - clean, used by locals and tourists and run about every half hour. Taormina is a terrific place - basically a long one street town with dramatic vistas, hotels, shops, restaurants, banks, churches, etc. - all under the nearby Mt Etna. Balconies filled with flower pots are everywhere and picture perfect. Look for the pots shaped like the heads of pirates, princesses and mythical figures. Lots of good pottery shops featuring Sicilian designs and colors. The absolute not to be missed thing in town is the Greek Theater with spectacular views of Etna and the bay area. There is a terrific pastry shop on the corner of the main street (Corso Umberto) and the side street up to the Theater - try another canoli there!

"Highly recommended hotel"
We 3 adults stayed at the Hotel Corallo for the last week of the season- October 23rd-30th 2004- and had a beautiful set of front rooms, looking out over the bay. The food was delicious and offered a choice of meat or fish every evening. Needless to say the pasta and the deserts were gorgeous. Oh dear! back to Weight Watchers now!! The staff are all attentive and friendly. The small garden and pool were clean and tidy, and regularlychecked. We would go back there any time.
