"Great Value"
Never having been to Berlin and wanting to see the difference between east and west Berlin, we booked the Courtyard. It was an inexpensive taxi ride from Templehof and the hotel had great weekend rates. The old berlin wall ran directly front of the hotel and is marked by cobblestones in the pavement. We followed the cobblestones and experienced the difference in building construction and design between the east and west. Since the Courtyard was in the east there is not a plethora of places to eat, especially on the weekend. Checkpoint Charlie is a 5-10 minute walk with more than enough places to eat. The Courtyard itself is well designed and constructed. The staff are very helpful. If you want to be in the heart of the action this is not the place to be. If you want to be near a metro stop and museum island and experience the east berlin transition, this is the place to be. Before we arrived we wrote down the directions from the airport to the hotel from the Marriott website. This was very helpful to the taxi driver since the Courtyard is a bit difficult to find the first time. It also ensured we went directly to the hotel.

"Great Hotel"
I booked this hotel with reward points, therefore there was no cost for the room.
The hotel is new and very clean and well located about a block from the Spittelmarkt U-Ban stop. There are quite a few markets and restaurants near by and it is only a 10 minute ride to Potsdamer Platz and the SONY Center.
Our room had two "twins" and a rollaway. The twin beds were actually full size, or at least they felt and looked fullsize. This room required your room key to be inserted in a slot by the door to activate the lights in the room.
The room had a refrigerator with a complementary bottle of sparkling water and the usual toiletries in the bath, which was very large. The tub/shower was odd in the there was only a partial glass door (see photo) and no curtain so it took a while to figure out how to have a shower without soaking the floor. One wall of the room was windows. The windows could open, which was nice as it was quite warm during our visit.
We had dinner one night at the hotel. The food and service were good. The price was reasonable too. The wait staff and desk staff spoke English better than my daughter spoke German.
There was wired internet acces in the room. The first 60 minutes were free. I assumed this was per day as I spent quite some time on-line and never ran out of free access.
If I travelled to Berlin again, I would definitely stay here, you can't beat the combination of new hotel with large, clean rooms and great location. I believe the cost is reasonable also.

"Great location, very nice hotel"
This new hotel is a 5 minute walk from the S-bahn line. Front desk staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English and responded to my request for an extra blanket very pleasantly. Rooms are a good size by European standards and very nicely appointed with windows that open. The free bottle of water in the fridge was a nice touch. Bathroom was large and, apart from the strange shower door, was nice, although the bathroom door didn't close as easily as it should have.
Exercise room was a good size although there wasn't really much in the way of weight equipment. The sauna is excellent - very hot and a nice size.
My only complaint is that we couldn't check in early and for security reasons they won't store luggage so we had to take the S-bahn to Alexanderplatz Bahnhof and store our luggage there for the day. Don't go to the Hauptbahnhof as the front desk recommends - it's farther away and costs a Euro more for the lockers.

"Comfortable tour base"
We stayed for a week at this Marriott hotel on Axel Springer Strs. Located exactly on the former East/West border it is in a good location for seeing the city of Berlin. Just 5 minutes to the underground train, 20 minutes walk to the Museum island. There is a very reasonable Italian restaurant across the road.
On Leipziger Strs nearby there is a supermarket, and Turkish donerkebab stands. The hotel was clean, comfortable, quiet, well-run, with a very good breakfast. I would recommend it.

"This one should move to the top of the list!"
Stayed at the Courtyard Marriott for five nights. Excellent location near U-Bahn. Easy to walk to many other locations. On a quiet street just off of a busy one.
The hotel is very new. Stayed on the second floor , which is a non- smoking floor. Wellness center is on the same floor. The room was large. It had a fridge and safe contained in a cabinet with a electric hot water pot on top. Mugs and intant coffee and tea provided. It also had an extremely comfortable bed. My husband has chronic back problems and has been known to sleep on the floor. He thought it was heavenly. Clean crisp linens. Two bedside lamps--one halogen are attached to the headboard. The bathroom was tile and granite and spotless! The room also contained a nice reading chair, plenty of wardrobe space with an iron and board. The room was simple and stylish and really quiet. Never heard anything from the halls or walls.
The staff as mentioned by other reviewers were very friendly. Even walked out the door the first day to get us going in the right direction. When they asked how are stay went they meant it.
The hotel had the ammenities we liked without the ones we really don't care to use(valets, room service). They do have sleek chrome luggage trolleys that you can use to take your luggage up.
Had breakfast in the restaurant the first morning as part of our package. Very nice--many choices. If you like to have a large breakfast book one of the packages that include it. Other wise it about 18 E.
The other mornings we grabbed something in the room. There are two markets within a couple of blocks. Also quite a few local restaurants. The neighborhood is partly residential.
A taxi from the airport was 18E. Booked a transfer with German Transfers and they cancelled on us. It would have been the same price and I would have saved the half hour it took me to book it.
Most definately would stay here again.

"Great hotel"
We stayed in this nice, new and immaculate hotel for three nights. Staff was very friendly and warm hearted and assisted us without asking. We asked for a quiet non smoking room and we got it. Breakfast offered a wide choice and every (fresh) item tasted good. A two minute walk to the underground makes this the ideal hotel to explore Berlin.
