Cringletie House Hotel Cringletie House Hotel Cringletie House Hotel

  Hotel Information

Cringletie House Hotel is a luxurious and comfortable small country house hotel...

The award winning Cringletie House Hotel is a luxurious and comfortable small country house hotel and restaurant. The castle type Victorian baronial mansion is set in the tranquil and rural countryside where sheep outnumber humans! The House dates back to 1861 and the Walled Garden goes back as far as 1661, when the first Cringletie House was built.

The 14 bedrooms are all individually decorated and all have glorious views over the gardens and the rolling country side. Many rooms have super king-size beds. The hotel has been made fully wheelchair accessible during recent refurbishment works and special attention has been given to facilities for guests with impaired hearing.

LOCATION

Cringletie House Hotel is sitting high in the rolling borders countryside overlooking the Moorfoot hills. Only half an hour from Edinburgh city centre and just two miles from the pretty market town of Peebles.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

* The hotel cordially invites you to savour the interesting and well balanced dishes from our award winning Chef Paul Hart. They will undoubtedly please your palate! The contemporary cuisine of the Chef is influenced by his love for fresh local Scottish produce. He makes the most of it and does that with a distinctive French tweak! The restaurant offers a daily changing 3-course menu for lunch. Depending on your appetite, you may opt for the full works or just one or two courses. The dinner menu is an exciting and most interesting a la carte menu. It changes with the seasons. For that special occasion you could try the 7-course gourmet tasting menu. Chef will use for this menu produce that is available on that particular day and therefore, the menu itself will always be a surprise!

* Coffee and tea is served throughout the day in the public room of your choice. There is always an opportunity to spoil yourself with something more than a cup of tea or coffee, whatever nice!

* Cringletie House would not be a proper Scottish Country House Hotel if it did not have a well stocked whisky bar! At the end of the day, everybody who says Scottish immediately thinks whisky!

* Having the Wedding Ceremony in the Gardens has definitely something special. Champagne Reception with delightful canapés in the Conservatory certainly is an option. The Celebration Dinner in the ornate Sutherland Room will never be forgotten.

ROOM AMENITIES

* The hotel has 14 bedrooms.

"Heaven"
Wanting to get away for a romantic weekend with my partner, we booked a two night stay at Cringletie House. Upon arrival staff are fantastic - welcomed at the car by the manager, where our luggage was taken inside and placed into the room, checked-in by a friendly young lady who gave us a guided tour before showing us into our room. We were left to settle into our room while we enjoyed a cup of tea which was delivered to us. Before dinner we were invited to the bar for a drink where we sat beside the open fire and enjoyed the canapes. Dinner was a delight with the ambience of the dining room creating a romantic atmosphere - exactly what we were hoping for. Our only complaint about Cringletie is that we did not find it 10 years earlier!! We will definately be returning!!

"Going that extra mile"
My fiance and I went to Cringletie House Hotel for the weekend with another couple and their daughter (we'd seen two excellent reviews in Scottish broadsheets). To say we set the staff at Cringletie a challenge would be an understatement: one vegan, two vegetarians, a 2.5 year old and a omnivore...but I cannot empathise strongly enough how much they went that extra mile. The vegan in the party said he had never been accommodated so well in a hotel (they'd bought in soya marg and milk). We had afternoon tea one day and the chef had made him five vegan cakes and sandwiches. They were asked each day what their daughter would like for dinner and made it without any fuss. The staff were polite, friendly, accommodating and relaxed. The food was tremendous. Again, the vegan was blown over when he was presented with his own vegan menu with six choices on it! Practically unheard of unless you go to a vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Our only 'problem' was that my fiance and I had chosen to stay in Stobo, an attic room. A lovely room with spacious bathroom. However, it happened to snow heavily one day and we opened the shutters to find snow lying inside the window! The room was quite chilly -the windows had gaps, even though they were new. The staff offered to move us to a different room but we stayed put because the views were fabulous and it wasn't too bad if we had the heating turned up high! I would higly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxed weekend with scrumptious food and great service. We have stayed in hotels all over the world but this truely was the best hotel experience we have ever had. GO, GO, GO!!!
