"Elegant Style"
I stayed here as part of a Trafalgar tour and there were problems with the electricity from when we arrived.
Some floors had it, some rooms had it intermittently and whole wings were out for a long time.
The staff were helpful when asked about the situation but did not provide updated information in the lobby for all to see.
The rooms are spacious and well decorated and the gift shop well stocked for those last minute items.
When asked to locate an internet cafe for our use, they had to search the internet but were able to point out the locations on our map.
The local no. 8 tram stops in front of the hotel. This will take you to the nearest traain station which will then give you access to the old town on the "pest" side of the city.

"Excellent Hotel"
I booked a Group of 49 people into this hotel for one of our social trips from work.
I visited the hotel with my wife in March 06 and had such a fantanstic time in Prague we re booked for the works party direct with the management.
The hotel is set in a residential area about 3 miles from the main centre of Prague. This is the one and only drawback for this hotel. The hotel itself is a massive building and is very impressive.
The staff can not do enough for you and the bedrooms are the biggest I have ever stayed in. Dressing gowns are in all the rooms as is the usual selection of shampoos, shower gells etc.
There is a superbly equipped gym and sauna.
The breakfast is to die for, everything you can imangine from fruit, cooked meats, pastries and cereal's.
The bar prices are a bit expensive but you would expect this at any quality hotel.
Public transport in Prague is very good and also very cheap. We purchased a 3 day pass for the metro and the trams for approx £5.00.
The tram terminus is directly outside the hotel which you take for two stops to the metro and you are then on your way.
Most of the tourist sights are only two or three stops on the metro and we did not use a taxi at all as the public transport is so easy.
If you do require to use a taxi it was only about £7.00 to return to the hotel late at night.
You can walk from the hotel to the city centre by walking up the hill and throught the castle and down the other side which has some breathtaking views over the Charles Bridge.
Make no mistake this is a fantastic hotel and dont be put off because its away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist sights.

"Excellent hotel"
We were there for three nights and had a great time. We booked the flights with Globespan and the room direct. We got a great price booking the hotel on the Crowne Plaza home page than using Globespan. As others have commented, it is out of the city centre but the tram/metro service clean, efficient and easy to use. Either get the tram for two stops and then the metro or just stay on the tram. The hotel is excellent and the staff very helpful. The only negative is there is not a lot to do in the area around the hotel but as a base to see Prague it takes a lot of beating.

"Great for a weekend getaway"
Six of us just spent three days in Prague, staying in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the outskirts of the centre, but very accessible by the tram that stops right outside the hotel - very convenient as only 10 minutes to the centre. On first sight the Crowne looks magnificent and this is mirrored inside. We could not fault the cleanliness, the room size and comfort and the breakfast (as we were B&B) was more than ample with plenty of choice. Prices for drinks more expensive than the bars in the city, but only what you'd expect in a hotel of this rating. Would definitely recommend staying here and will go back.
Transportation to and from the airport and around the city could not have been easier - a mini-bus was hired from the booth near the exit of the airport to our hotel, which cost 650CK (approx £13 for six people), the return journey was booked with the driver which included a 10% discount. We purchased our tram tickets from the airport - 3 days of unlimited travel on either tram, metro or bus, for 220CK (approx £5), you then validate them on your first journey (yellow boxes on the trams) and that's it!!
One tip to offer is venture away from the main squares and you will find a host of inexpensive, but very delightful, bars/restaurants - Tequila Sunrise Mexican was definitely one such example (yes we know you don't go to Prague to eat mexican, but it was well worth it!). One word of warning, if you are offered a traditional Czech Schnapps ask the price first as we were misled and it turned out to be very expensive (but this was only in one bar, unfortunately can't remember the name!). The Hotel U Prince left from the square past the Astronomical Clock has a roof-top terrace serving drinks/food etc, accessed by a glass lift, is worth a visit.
If you can make it the castle for 12 noon the ceremonial changing of the guard is worth a look. Tram stop 3 from the Crowne Plaza and follow the brown tourist signs will take you right to the castle entrance (approx 10 min walk), then the walk back down from the first courtyard (left to the wall and down the steps) to the city via Charles Bridge was amazing.
All in all a very beautiful city with magnificent architecture, very clean streets and we felt very secure and unintimidated - well worth a visit.
