Inside the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, a visit to the Porziuncola is a must.
This little Romanesque church was dear to St. Francis's heart, and located next to it is the Chapel of the Transit, built over the place where the saint died. Also worth visiting is the Porziuncola Museum, which contains fine works of art.

"Great value for 4 Stars in Assisi!"
I choose the Dal Moro because of the value (4 star at 98 Euro) and free parking. It is not near the center of Assisi but is connected via an easy bus 10 min. from Assisi. You get the bus right down the street at St. Francis's which you want to see anyway. The staff is professional, proper, nice and helpful. The building is not brand new but modern in Art Deco style. Our room was very stylish, nice size, comfortable bed, clean bath with small shower. We ate at their restaurant which had excellent food and service. We liked the hotel so much compared to the night before in Siena that we stayed an extra night. Great value at 98 Euro. Try it, you will love it!
