Dalhousie Castle is fascinating 13th century fortress...
Dalhousie Castle is fascinating 13th century fortress set within acres of wooded parkland on the picturesque banks of the river Esk. From the moment you arrive at Dalhousie Castle, a warm Scottish welcome awaits. Whether relaxing in the fabulous Aqueous Spa, enjoying one of the library’s extensive collection of books and a drink from the ‘secret bar’ next to the open fire, dining in the ancient barrel vaulted dungeon on our exceptional cuisine or relaxing in your unique castle bedroom, you will always feel as welcome as the ‘Laird’.
This Scottish Castle Hotel is also an ideal venue for your own traditional Scottish gathering, whether you are planning a ceilidh, banquet, wedding, conference or meeting, or, as an individual, maybe staying on a special break, you are looking for the best of Scotland’s hospitality with all the comforts of a four star Edinburgh Hotel. Dalhousie Castle has very much kept its Scottish Castle character with features such as Falconry in the castle grounds, hydrotherapy spa with beauty treatments, luxury characterful bedrooms and a formal fine dining restaurant, yet is also so near to Edinburgh city centre, Edinburgh airport and Waverley train station. Is there a more memorable way of visiting Scotland than by staying in a Scottish Castle Hotel |

PROPERTY AMENITIES
The quality of the cuisine and the unique setting make dining at Dalhousie Castle Hotel anything but ordinary. It is the perfect setting for a traditional Scottish Banquet. Descending the worn flags of an ancient stone stairway you are ushered into the barrel vaulted dungeons. The atmosphere is heightened by the play of dramatic shadows across the rough hewn stone work, and the burnished steel of the weapons and armour that adorn the walls. It is hard to imagine a more evocative setting than the Dungeon Restaurant in which to enjoy excellent traditional Scottish Castle cuisine that features fresh local produce such as Salmon, Venison, Grouse and prime Scottish Beef. * The Orangery, with its sweeping views over the gently flowing River Esk, offers a more informal environment plus a lighter and more contemporary menu. Again the cuisine is primarily Scottish, but with Continental influences. * Guests can enjoy an array of amenities including a full range of spa services, such as the Hydro Pool massage jet-pool, the Laconium Roman-style sauna with under floor and seat heating, Ottoman Turkish style steam bath, a Tepidarium overlooking the South Esk River and a tropical rain and cold fog shower. * The charming private Chapel and Vestry provide the unique location for the most memorable of wedding ceremonies.

"Brilliant!"
We stayed at Dalhousie Castle for our 10th wedding anniversary, and had an exceptional time. The castle was beautiful, and our room (the Cockpen room) was the epitome of charm. Having a huge (and very comforatable) four-poster bed, and our own private balcony with a fantastic view, really made our stay special. The food in the dungeon restaurant was also wonderful. They even sent us a bottle of champagne on our anniversary date. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. Top marks for the castle and its staff!

"Our Wedding"
Our 5th Visit & our wedding
We arrived on the Friday for our wedding on the Saturday as did 50% of our guests. Also it seemed we arrived at the same time. This was no problem to them at all.
Again the service from reception was fantastic as we had booked 2 rooms one for me on the Friday night and Jane stayed in the Mary Queen of Scotts (our chosen honeymoon suite). Evey request we made was met!
We asked for early check in for some of the guests who were flying from London - again they obliged and made those rooms avaliable first (this had all been requested in advance).
The wedding ran like clockwork - Liz did a fantastic job on the day - it couldn't have gone any better! They even arranged fantastic sunshine !! :-)
We really rate the hotel as a hotel and as a wedding venue.
Weve honeymooned at Spice Island Resort & Sandy Lane - Dalhousie still gets 5* from us
