"needs some attention to refurbishment of the rooms"
D'angleterre Hotel needs some attention to refurbishment of the rooms, but this was greatly compensated by the fantastic staff in the restaurant and reception.
The breakfast was great and the waiters very attentive.
The spa in the hotel was great value for money.

"walking distance to the castle and other sights"
D'angleterre Hotel is located across the square from Nyhaven and at the end of the pedestrian shopping street. Also walking distance to the castle and other sights.

"250 years of history - best hotel in Denmark"
If you are looking for the best ... look no further. Rooms, service, location, food, ammenities ... whatever you're looking for ... it's here. Yes, it's expensive, but well worth it. My wife and I stayed at Hotel D´Angleterre for 5 days. The deluxe room we stayed in was very spacious and homely. Staff were great and service was impeccable.
During our stay Hotel D'Angleterre was elected Denmark's Leading Hotel 2006 and won the international tourism industry’s most prestigious event – the World Travel Awards for the third time.
I would recommend anyone who is going to Copenhagen to stay at Hotel D´Angleterre.

"Charming, Friendly Staff, Great Location"
I found this hotel to be lovely...don't understand the negative reviews i saw! I found the staff (and all the Danes I met, for that matter) to be very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cozy, the bathroom looked brand new. Bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The location is wonderful. The hotel is near charming buildings and restaurants on the pier as well as the shops on the pedestrian street the other way. The breakfast is great too. The gym is nice. It's a full gym with lots of equipment....pool, sauna. The hotel has an old-world European charm, but with all the modern conveniences you could want.

"A Great Experience"
I just returned from a four-night stay with my teenaged daughter at the D'Angleterre in Copenhagen. I was apprehensive about the quality of the rooms after reading the reviews here on tripadvisor but we were given a beautiful, recently renovated room on the third floor. We reserved the lowest grade of double room and we delighted with the room we received. The staff was friendly, helpful and eager to please and the location is fantastic. Food in the restaurant is excellent although I found the staff somewhat cool and reserved compared to the regular hotel staff, which came off as a bit arrogant. The only criticism of the hotel that I might have is that some spots in the public areas are a little in need of repair--the wood of the reception area has been knocked around a bit--and the gold-plated fixtures in the bathroom of my room were only about 50% plated so they really needed replacement or replating. Also, my bathroom was a bit on the small size but I didn't really have a problem with it. Overall, the experience was great and I would definitely stay there again. I went from the D'Angleterre to the Grand in Stockholm which was a great disappointment in comparison.

"Pricey, but great hotel"
We stayed here for 5 nights in July, 2004; a "superior twin" for 2565 DKK/night (about $425 US)-- breakfast not included. I initially thought this
was outrageous, but given the over-the-top, crazy
prices throughout Scandinavia, and relative to
other places we stayed, it was a fair price. The room was very large, with great beds and luxurious linens, and a large, modern bathroom. My luggage
was lost in London on our first 3 days, and the hotel
manager and staff did everything they could to try to help us. We find all the staff, while initially reserved, to be very helpful and accommodating.
The restaurant is excellent; great food but also at very high prices. If you go to Scandinavia--anywhere-- be prepared to spend about a third
more than just about anywhere in Europe!!!!
