"Beautiful hotel - would highly recommend"
We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of February and it was absolutely lovely! We had a large room (284) overlooking the Danube. Room was cosy and huge bed (slept very well every night). Breakfast was plentiful and we had dinner on the 1st night which my Husband and I agreed was some of the best food we have ever had. We had 3 courses from the buffet. There was a also a lovely string quartet playing. Very grand!
The thermal spa was also beautful!
We walked the mile and a quarter each day off the island to go sightseeing through the beautiful park, theres lots to see in Budapest and I would highly recommend the Finicular Railway which we did 3 times. (We loved it!).
Would also recommend Rivaldos for a special meal out at night, its within the castle walls and food and service fantatstic (about Ł40 for 2 main meals and bottle of wine).
You won't be dissapointed if you go here.

"Great for romantics!"
Went during February and it had snowed. It was so romantic to walk through the park arm in arm and the Hotel spa is fab. The spa has steam rooms and several pools of differing temperatures all available at no extra cost!!! We wandered down to the spa via the underground heated corridor every day, in our complimentary hotel towelling robes.
From a practical point of view, the way to get around Budapest is by the excellent public transport. However, the last bus to the island is at 10 p.m. It would have been nice if it were just a little bit later, but as we were a couple we worked around this. However, had this been a weekend with friends I would have been disappointed by the distance of the hotel to the nearest bar (25 mins walk).
A great place to eat is a place called Artis, on the Buda side of the Margaret Bridge. It is a sophisticated place where you can eat all you like and drink unlimited soft drinks and coffee for a set price (about Ł15 per head).

"hotel with character"
Myself and my boyfriend stayed in the Grand hotel for 4 nights. It is a beautiful hotel with lots of character. A word of warning though it is quite a distance from the city centre, about 30-45mins depending if you know where your going. Unlike us who got lost mostly everyday. The room was similiar to any hotel room except it had a nice balcony over looking the park.
The majority of people staying here were of retiring age, but this was not an issue it just meant the hotel was very quiet. The pool and treatments were excellent and inexpensive. The buffet food was also very good.
I'd recommend this hotel to any anyone looking for a quiet break to relax and unwind and to sleep (as it's so quiet at night). The island itself is lovely and it has the best running tracks I've ever seen.

"Fantastic hotel"
Our stay at the Grand Hotel Danubius was without doubt the highlight of our trip to Budapest, and our friends and travelling companions felt the same way. The ambiance and atmosphere were delightful; the bar was most welcoming; the dining room and terrace were excellent; the rooms comfortable and tastefully decorated; the staff friendly and helpful, and the setting picturesque and attractive. The menu for dinner was varied, including Hungarian specialities, plus vegetarian meals and 'healthy options', and the breakfast buffet was superb. We all agreed that we would return to Budapest, not necessarily to see the city, but just to stay at the Grand!
