We stayed in Hotel Dei Cavalieri a couple of years ago and were unsure of what to expect before arrival.
We researched its location and were aware that it was out of town and on the road. The walk into town was not too long, although slightly uphill on the way back. It is possible to get the bus from the centre of town to almost to the hotel door. I think the last bus leaves town at approx 00:00am.
Although we didnt book a room with a sea view, we were lucky enough to get one. The view was amazing. It couldnt have been better.
Ok, the room was slightly dated, but seemed about right for the price.
The breakfast can only be described as the best in Italy...fresh oranges to squeeze your own orange juice, a vast selection of fruits from hotels the terrace garden (which was also amazing), breads, brioche, cakes.
The hotel terrace garden was littered with sun loungers and hammocks and very relaxing. An endless set of steps lead down to a small concrete platform from where swimming is possible.
A beach is located approx 300m up the road from the hotel. 500 large steps lead down to a beach tucked in a small cove. The beach is delightful - better in our opinion than the one in Amalfi centre. The only negative thing about the beach is the trek back up the steps. It is however possible to get a boat either to/from the beach to the cente of Amalfi (small charge). The boats run very often and are reliable so if you cant face the steps, it is possible to get the boat back into town and walk back to the hotel.
The food in the hotel restaurant wasnt great so we ate in town most nights.
Altogether an amazing holiday and a lovely hotel.
