Des Iles Borromees Hotel is a magnificent Belle Epoque building dating from 1861 and situated in Stresa on the shores of Lake Maggiore, opposite the Borromeo Islands. The 179 air-conditioned guestrooms reflect the opulent grandeur of the hotel, with traditional style décor in soft colours featuring stuccos and Murano glass chandeliers, Maggiolini or Biedermeier style furnishings and rich fabrics.

"Outstanding attention to details!"
This is a place for people who are attentive to the last detail, who value the very subtle differences that make all the difference. This hotel is perfect; the level of quality that has been achieved in the decoration is really outstanding. I regret the presence of too many people on convention, which tend to spoil the atmosphere.

My husband and I have been to the Grand Hotel in Stresa twice in the last two years. It is a wonderful, dramatic, spotless hotel. Great atmosphere, beautiful rooms, well located. You can't miss with this one.

I just came back from a week end in Stresa and the Grand Hôtel is really a great place. Staff is pleasant. But above all the Beauty Center a must. We had a chance to have a junior suite with Lake View. It's worht it !

"fantastic short break"
lovely hotel with beatiful views over the lake in a great location on the edge of Stesa. Excellent service all round, helpful staff atc. The decor is special and our room was excellent. As you would expect this does not come cheap. The only downside are the mosquitos-they bite!and there are millions of them. Take a stron insect repellant.

"wow! wow! wow!"
I have to say this hotel really impressed us on first impressions. I was wandering around wowing! for ages. We got upgraded from a garden view room (which seemed to have a lovely view by the way) to a lake view room for no extra charge - even though we were on a one night out of 3 night free offer - so we got a real bargain! The room really was luxurious. The bathroom unbelievable. Jacuzzi bath - double sinks the works. I will let the pictures do the talking. Because we were travelling out of season a few things disappointed us. For instance - they did not put us in the real breakfast room until our last day so we didn't get any nice views from the first room. And obviously Stresa was very quiet. There were hardly any restaurants open and we weren't prepared to pay the hotel prices! 16 euros for a bowl of consome etc! There was a nice hotel about 10 minutes to the right of the hotel called Rosa something or other that was open on our last night that is worth going to. some lovely places to visit - although they were all closed in january. Hotel gorgeous though.
