Hotel Information
Stately European Hotel housed in a former baronial residence...

Situated at the Lange Voorhout in the heart of the city, Des Indes is a gateway to a proud history. The grand atrium boasts a magnificent drop chandelier; colossal marble columns flanking the spacious lobby add a touch of grandeur.

Hotel Des Indes opened its doors in 1881 and has hosted aristocrats, kings, heads of state, and celebrities. Originally built as the town residence of Baron van Brienen, the personal advisor of King William III in the seventeenth century, the property was sold only four years after the Baron's death and was soon renovated into a luxury hotel.

LOCATION

Des Indes is located on a leafy square in the diplomatic district of The Hague.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

* Since 1881, the exquisite Restaurant-Lounge-Bar DesInDes has welcomed royalty, world leaders and artists from all four corners of the globe. Today, that tradition lives on in Executive Chef Ben Hardeman’s delectable creations, which span an extraordinary range from light sandwiches to the most refined gastronomy. The exceptionally skilled Hardeman trained in quality restaurants, including the famed "Im Schiffchen" in Dusseldorf, rated three stars by Michelin and one of the most successful restaurants in Germany. Hardeman collaborated with Parisian Chef Michel Rostang to create the innovative menu offered in the restaurant, lounge, and bar. Begin an evening in the lounge, savouring an exotic cocktail or the finest variety of your favorite spirit before sampling the Chef’s exquisite culinary inventions. Parisian architect Jacques Garcia has renovated the restaurant and lounge area to integrate its grandeur with modern touches. One large space is divided into separate areas, each imbued with a unique ambience.

* Take a break from a busy afternoon with an elegant and traditional High Tea at Des Indes. Experience an assortment of teas – each course features a different variety – paired with warm and spicy nibbles, fresh and flaky scones, and finally, a selection of delectable pastries: a tartlet, sumptuous biscuits, petit fours, and bon bons. Tea must be brewed carefully for the best flavour, and DesInDes uses only soft mineral water and loose tea leaves to produce the richest, most aromatic tea possible.

* Renew yourself in the brand-new 315-square-metre Health Club, accented in bold blues, aubergines, and oranges to refresh and invigorate mind and body. Enjoy a workout in the sophisticated new gym, where personal trainers await to provide guidance and advice. Begin with a physiotherapist’s examination to determine blood pressure and body fat percentage. Then, your personal trainer will design an exercise routine that best suits your body type and physical needs.

* 8 elegant function rooms – boast elegant amenities for your next business meeting or seminar and seat up to 80 delegates. Old-world grandeur lingers in the air, but sophisticated technology brings contemporary style to these rooms, providing the ideal combination of past and present to help your event go as smoothly as possible.

ROOM AMENITIES

"Wonderful Hotel with beautiful rooms!"
I recently stayed at the Le Meridien Hotel Des Indes for a weekend and I absolutely loved the hotel. A lot of times historic hotels can be run down or very stuffy, but this hotel is modernized without losing the old world charm. The hotel was very beautiful and modern chic. I had an executive king room that was very nicely appointed - complete with a bathroom that had a heated tile floor. The bedding was luxurious, full and very comfortable. The room furnishings were modern and had a very urban/contemporary design and added a very nice feel to the rooms. Additionally, the VERY high ceilings make the rooms feel even larger than they are. This hotel is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. I have no complaints about the service, all the staff was very helpful. The downstairs bar is a great place to have a drink at the end of the night. I will stay at the Des Indes the next time I am in Den Haag without question. The only bad things I can say about the hotel 1) Rooms on the back of the hotel tend to get noise later in the evening because of a few bars/restaurants that are located in the street, and 2) Meals at the hotel are generally expensive (but there are plenty a great spots near the hotel).

"Historic, yet hip"
If you like a bit of Old World charm but don't want to sacrifice your modern conveniences, book a room here. You won't be disappointed. Outside the Hotel Des Indes, you'll be greeted by The Hague's historic buildings, most dating back several centuries. Step inside the 18th-century edifice and you'll find a hotel updated to twenty-first century standards. Locals tell me that the hotel recently completed a major renovation project; the hard work paid dividends. The decor gives off a rich, sophisiticated air with mahogany furniture, deep purple walls, and gold accents. The rooms are spacious, feature one of the most comfortable queen-sized beds I've found in Europe and contain a large bathroom. Lamps are tucked into virtually every corner, providing the sole source of illumination. You might say the dim lighting is a metaphor for the entire hotel; there's nothing harsh about Hotel Des Indes. My business schedule kept me on the go for much of the trip, so the convenient location enabled me to steal a few minutes of tourist time. The hotel is a five-minute walk to the city center and sits steps from the 12th century parliament building and winding streets of the Old City. I also managed to sneak in a morning workout in the fitness center, but wish the hotel would have invested more significantly in weights and cardio equipment and devoted less space to the under-utilized spa. Breakfast here was tasty, albeit over priced at 20 euros per person. Overall, Hotel Des Indes earns my enthusiastic recommendation. The Hague is a hidden treasure -- just a 45-minute train ride from the more popular Amsterdam -- and this hotel is a perfect launching pad for discovering its charms. This place gets an A for atmospheric.

"Lovely hotel, great location, highest quality"
We stayed overnight, 1 night only, at Le Meridian Des Indes in The Hague. The hotel accomodations were top quality. Bed was great, towels were thick, bathrobes and slippers provided, internet access (although we didn't use it), bathroom had everything including wash clothes (something not common in Europe). We were originally given a smoking room which reeked of smoke so we requested another room and were provided with a non-smoking room immediately, no waiting. Funny they didn't ask our preference when we made the reservation. Anyway although we had a non-smoking room our trash can reeked of smoke so I put it aside so we wouldn't have to smell it. We were also asked if we would like hot chocolate or coffee delivered to our room at check-in and although we said yes we never received it. Other than these 2 negative points we had a lovely time, breakfast was also high quality and the restaurant area very classy and decorated nicely for the holidays. We did not use the health club or pool services. We paid 200 euros for the1 night but it was well worth it.
