The Island of Elba, with its subtle facination, knew also how to charm one of the most famous lyrical singers of this century, Tancredi Pasero. He retired at Spartaia, naming his villa Desiree, in the memory of the romantic love story between Napoleon and the enchanting daughter of Monsieur Clery, future queen of Sweden. Somewhat later the villa was changed into a hotel, keeping up during all this time the family-like hospitality.
