"Great stay,excellent facilities,good location"
The hotel is located about 3 minutes walk from the main train station of copenhagen, bordering Vesterbro, an area which most guides describe as dodgy. We walked around the area one night until late and there was definitely nothing dodgy about it, in fact we felt more secure in Copenhagen than we feel in most parts of London, where we live. The location is good for exploring Copenhagen, which can be done by foot (comfy shoes a must). Around the corner (Halmtorvet, Sonder Boulevard) there are a couple of cafe's/bars which happened to have Jazz music when we went (Jazz Festival weekend), and a supermarket.
The room was very spacious and clean, with a modern design, large wardrobe and tall mirror, a walk in shower (hot and cold water, good power) and wide windows with nice views. There was a TV, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. It was a very hot weekend, and there was no air conditioning, just a fan, but when we opened the window we found the cool air coming in was sufficient.
Clean towels and shampoos and shower gels are provided, so no need to carry these unless you must. There was also a hairdryer in the wardrobe. We got fresh towels every day.
The welcome pack in the room stated we could borrow a keyboard from reception to connet to the Internet in the room free of charge, which we did and it was certainly a bonus. There is also a PC near reception that was almost always free to use.
Included in the price of our room was breakfast and access to the Spa and swimming pool in the same complex. Breakfast was served at the restaurant, just out of the hotel and to the left, down a corridor. It was typical scandinavian, a good selection of delicious Danish pastries, breads, boiled eggs, ham and cheese, milk, cereals, fruits, yoghurts, team, coffee and juice. We had a large breakfast every morning which kept us going until early evening at least. The restaurant where breakfast was served was very pleasant.
We also managed to squeeze in a visit to the spa and swimming pool of the complex. Tickets were given to us at reception. The opening hours were a bit of a disappointment at the weekend (last entry at 4p.m.). The swimming pool area was very nice, with a central pool and next door a warmer pool for kids. The changing rooms there were clean and tidy, but confusing to find and signs were either missing or in Danish. Many locals appear to be using the facilities, and there were lots of children, so a very family friendly hotel and pool.
The Spa was the highlight of staying at this hotel. At reception we received robes and towels, slippers and loofahs. The facilities in the spa were immaculate, men's and ladies' sauna and steam room, a very pleasant sitting area and a terrace. We also received a complimentary session at the steam room/sauna with a member of staff who gave us papaya gels, and a camomile infused sauna session which was very invigorating.
The staff at the hotel reception were very friendly and efficient. Staff at the swimming pool, particularly the lady at the shop (entrance to the pool) and a security girl called Marian were rude and unprofessional in their manners to say the least. They obviously have mostly local clientele which does not however justify their rudeness towards foreign guests of the hotel who make use of the facilities and do not understand Danish signs. Thankfully, the staff at the spa are the exact opposite, smiling, and going the extra mile to make guests feel comfortable.
Overall we had a very good stay at this hotel and I would definitely recommend it.
