"Just Forget the Dough and Go!"
My wife and I and our two kids (ages 2 & 4) just returned. Just like so many other reviews for this property, the hotel was Fantasmic! Seriously, a truly wonderful 'Disney' experience.
We stayed in a suite, although a bit more (about $900 with concierge lounge access), we felt it was well worth it. The concierge lounge was wonderful, the treats were all excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.
We have also done a first class Orlando trip and we thought that the Grand did a much better job than the Animal Lodge in Orlando. The food, room, service, etc., were all much better.
Make reservations for everything you can well in advance, as the waiting can be a real bummer.
Forget the dough and just go......life is too short to pass on the truly terrific experiences that carry with them the most wonderful memories. You'll love it!

"Can't stay anywhere else now!"
We stayed at the Grand Californian just before Thanksgiving 2005. It was busy but we didn't feel like just another face in the crowd. The room was immaculate and a perfect size for the four of us. The vanity is separate from the bathroom facilities, which really helps when everyone is getting ready in the morning. The turn down service with Disney chocolates on the pillows is a very nice touch. We love rustic atmospheres and the Grand Californian didn't disappoint! The ambiance is great. The Storyteller Cafe has delicious food. The only thing we would change is adding items to the menu. We thought the menu was a little limited. The bell service was great. Since we went just before Christmas, we had lots of purchases. Someone was at our room in no time to help us bring it all to the car. One negative is the distance of the parking lot. It is a little far away but we didn't mind so much because we parked the car and left if for 4 days. The proximity of this hotel to the parks and Downtown Disney can NOT be beat! We're going back for Christmas 2006.
