"Strangely ignored"
Grabbed a last-minute cheapie from Olympic Holidays, for a fortnight at this place, last summer. School summer hols time, so last week July/first week August. Wondered why it was so cheap at £1900 for a family of four in two rooms: proximity to the airport and lack of a beach (it's on a promontory hilltop!) seemed to be the answer.
But, but but.... the aircraft noise doesn't intrude because you're actually way above them as they land and take off. You're just not in the noise 'footprint'. It's weird.
The (4*) hotel boasts one of the best swimming pools I've enjoyed in years, Arctic aircon in the bedrooms and incredibly friendly staff. B&B was our choice - half board options exist. It's buffet service everything, and is middling-to-good. I wouldn't take a full holiday's half-board, though, because there are plenty of excellent restaurants within walking distance. We ate in the hotel a couple of times when we couldn't be arsed to go anywhere.
Oh, and the transfer time from Corfu airport is the shortest imaginable - maybe 20 minutes.
Downsides: no beach, if that matters to you. No entertainment, but that can be a blessing if you've ever found yourself in a room above the hotel disco. Corfu Town is a five-mile bus ride away. Because the place is at the top of the hill, people with walking difficulties will have probs.
Oddly, Olympic Holidays have had trouble filling it this year as well. We watched like hawks as the price for the same fortnight in 2006 dropped from £2200 to £2100, £1900 and then, unbelievably, £1600, or £300 less than last year. At that point we clicked on 'Buy'.
Not sure I should have posted this actually, because I might want a decent value trip next year as well.

"Great Hotel for a relaxed holiday"
We went away as a couple for a relaxing two weeks and that's exactly what we got. The hotel was lovely, though the beds were a little hard and on the old side. Other than that the rooms are great, a good size with fab air-con.
The bar and pool-side bar are great, Nikkos the bar man is fun too. Though food by the pool is limited and overpriced.
We had an excellent stay, the airplane noise was irritating at times but in no way spoiled the holiday.
Food options are very limited in the area, so trips into Corfu town or elsewhere are recommended. Bars and night time entertainment is also quite limited, but for a relaxing break it's absolutely great!

"Good value for family of four"
We stayed at the hotel for two weeks in early August 2006. Very clean hotel. Air con was excellent. Staff friendly. Breakfasts good but should finish at 10:30 and not 10am!
Immediate area not very inspiring although Mama Lina's restaurant (bottom of the hotel entrance and turn right) is very good value. Fairly long walk to end of peninsula for the view to Mouse Island or long walk into Corfu town.
We used the buses regularly to get into town centre and further afield to beach resorts. Buses are cheap but local buses are a bit hit and miss on the timings!
Airport noise was not too bad and the kids loved watching the planes come and go. No loud noise from local area. Swimming pool is excellent. Lunches in cafe were overpriced for what is essentially fast food.
Not much for the kids to do so day trips are essential. Car hire is a good option at least for a few days.
Overall, very good and a fair price for the holiday - transfers to/from the airport are obviously very short!
