"Great location and great breakfast"
What a charming place! Old world style on a cobblestone alley way right off the main street downtown. We walked everywhere downtown and enjoyed the parks and coffee shops. The hotel set us up with a city tour of the palace which was very nice and the tour ended up in the city centre, which was an easy walk back to the hotel. We had a 2-story suite on the seventh floor with great beds and bathrooms. There was free internet in the lobby and breakfast across the alley-way was excellent. There were eggs, cheese, rolls, juice, meat and pastry galore. No one should be hungry here. We will be back again next October to enjoy more of this wonderful city, and we will stay at the hotel for the charm, location and breakfast.

"Charming gem"
What a wonderful and unexpected experience --- we stayed 2 nights (October 13 and 14th, 2006) at the Mercure Biedermeier Hotel and we were enchanted by this hotel. Generous sized rooms, friendly staff, convenient location and a wonderful breakfast made it our favorite hotel on our Europe trip. The hotel is situated off Landstrasse within a 3 minute walk to Vienna’s formidable Underground system or a 15 minute walk to the center of Old Town. This hotel is a restored Biedermeier Apartmenthouse (Biedermeier period was 1818 -1848) with court yards in an old fashioned cobblestone street, and it is painted in a bright yellow with green accents.
My husband and I had a 2 room suite with 2 bathrooms -- a good sized living room furnished with antiques (faux, but nice), curtains in typical pattern (stripes) and color (green) of the Biedermeier period and a small bedroom located on the top floor right under the roof which was very cozy. The suite would have been big enough for four and was certainly big enough for two. --- At arrival we were surprised by red roses, sweets, bathrobes, umbrella, you name it. The breakfast was above average – 2 stations with cook to order options and a huge variety of cold cuts, cheeses, cereals, juices, sweets, fruits plus an assortment of different breads, rolls. Tip: try to find a table in the “Wintergarten” section of the restaurant – it is a glass covered court yard and much brighter as the rest of the restaurant.
But what really made this stay memorable was the friendliness of the staff – at the check-in/out, in the restaurant, at the bar or whenever we crossed a maid in the hallway – smiling faces. We usually travel twice a year to Vienna and this has been so far the most charming hotel and certainly the best value --- Mercure Biedermeier you’ll see us again in April 2007.
